Valley leads state in human-trafficking arrests
COLUMBUS — The Mahoning Valley has become the hot spot in Ohio for human trafficking arrests, according to a new report from state Attorney General Dave Yost. The report, titled “The Drivers of Demand” and commissioned by Yost, provides a first-ever look at sex buyers arrested in Ohio and the criminal consequences they have faced. It concludes that more sex buyers are being arrested and prosecuted in the state, but jail time and fines remain minimal, and a mandate that offenders attend “john school” is inconsistently enforced.
