Appreciates the humor of The Review’s columnist

To the editor: Only Fred Miller can bring humor to getting a colonoscopy! He certainly made my morning by his description of the preparation and the term "Up Periscope" had my wife and I laughing out loud! Fred’s continuing sense of humor is appreciated in a time when many people only focus on the negative aspects of life. Thanks Fred! Paul Anthony, Calcutta

Democrats need to flee from Trump

To the editor: Aha! News flash! Here it is Tuesday, February 4, and the results of Monday's Democrat caucus show no winner. Yet the Republicans report Donald Trump has won the Republican caucus overwhelmingly. Something smells. What further proof do you need? Trump, Russia and the Ukraine have concocted a scheme to disrupt the Democrats during their caucus in Iowa. Do you need further proof that the orange man is going to manipulate the 2020 election? No use voting, Iowa. Iowa would be a test to see if the evil aforementioned triumvirate could assure Trump of another stolen ...

Upset with message posted by former East Liverpool mayor

To the editor: I’m writing this letter to address an issue I have with a post from the former mayor of East Liverpool, Ryan Stovall. As a previous elected official, he needs to be held accountable for his actions and called out for the response he posted regarding The Review’s front page interview on Jan. 7, (specifically page A5) with the mayor-elect Greg Bricker. In his post, Mr. Stovall condemned Mayor Bricker for deciding to forgo salary and benefits (approximately $65,000) his first year in office. As a candidate, Mayor Bricker did not want this decision to influence the ...

Subjected to another Washington fiasco

To the editor: Here we go again as Americans being subjected once more to a Washington fiasco. It just saddens the heart to think of our founding fathers who with all their concerned efforts tried to establish a country that provided all Americans assurance of a free and earnest government based on a conviction: "of the people by the people for the people." Not sure that is the way it is today. But this time I have to admit my curiosity is really spiked. Now knowing somewhat of the strong animosity between the president and speaker Pelosi, no love loss there. What are the odds if ...

Contends lack of transparency in Hancock County

To the editor: In July 2016, the Hancock County Commission refused to renew its animal shelter operation contract with the nonprofit which had operated the county shelter for over twenty years. Then, the commission immediately requested a legal opinion from the W.Va. Attorney General's Office regarding legal rights to a shelter excess levy balance of over $360,000 raised on behalf of the nonprofit. In March 2017, the attorney general provided a legal opinion stating that the commission did not have a right to the accumulated funds and recommended the funds be returned to the ...

Frustrated with providing proof of ID

To the editor: Who am I? I don't know for sure who I am. I went to get a new driver's license the other day. To be able to fly on a plan, your driver's license must have a little star on it, that proves who you are. I took my old Medicare card, my new Medicare card, title to my car, an electric bill, my army service card with picture, an old driver’s license with picture, an AAA membership card, my insurance company card, my credit union ID card, and a blood donor card. I also had a birth certificate from East Liverpool City Hall, I got some years ago. But they said it's just a ...
