Roadwork needed

Dear Editor:I have seen the city repair some streets that needed addressed, and I am now asking for help from the mayor and safety service director to please fix Henry Avenue and Davis Street. These streets are worse than many the city has repaired. It is impossible not to hit huge holes. Today I had to spend $50 to repair a muffler and clamps that were destroyed because of the horrid holes in city roads.Don't tell me, once again, that only a small portion pay taxes - I do and have for over 50 years. The city needs to quit wasting the funds we have on silly stuff we can do without and ...

Written by the Commissioners' attorney, Michael Lucas III, the contract differed from the previous contracts in recent years, including the citing of a section of West Virginia code involving euthanasia.I called the commissioners office several times and received no ...

Media and politicians

A leader in the Ministry of Communications for the Saddam Regime, he became the face, voice and joke of broadcasting. He daily/weekly broadcasted worldwide the phenomenal "success" of the Iraqi Army with the utter "crushing" of American forces. The most memorable video of him was when on live TV, an American armored column rolled through in the background. Let us fast forward to today with Obama and his daily/weekly news briefs regarding "his" success against ISIS, world security greatly improving, and ...

Here we go again

Dear Editor:Here we go again: dictatorial politicians (this time at the Court House) have crammed their will down the throats of the public.Monday's headline directed our attention to the Hancock County Commissioners plan to reach their greedy, grubby hands into taking over the Animal Shelter. They carried out their threat to take over the Shelter regardless of public opinion.Overwhelming approval of the Animal Shelter levies on the ballot was ignored. They payed no attention to widespread public support for the shelter. Our commissioners only want what's best for the commissioners: the ...
