In her honor

2 min read

Dear Editor:

Gwen Blake, 23, a daughter, sister, aunt and mother, was involved in a fatal car accident on Saturday, June 28, 2014, in East Liverpool. In the efforts to save her life, she was life-flighted to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she received multiple blood transfusions.

Gwen was always full of life. She loved to help people and would do anything to make someone else happy or smile. The love she had for her family was, and is, easy to see. Besides her parents, Gary and Kathleen Blake Jr., and siblings, Gary III, Axl, Ali, Ryan and John, she also left behind three beautiful and precious daughters. Her daughters, Alexandrea, Aubrey and Harmony, were the most important to her and the loves of her life.

Gwen’s favorite color was lilac. She loved butterflies, cooking and baking, but most of all she loved being a mother (mommy) and spending time with her family!

In Gwen’s honor, her family is holding a special blood drive to help replenish the blood supply. Central Blood Bank supplied all of the blood that Gwen used in the fight to save her life. Central Blood Bank supplies more than 40 local area hospitals, including East Liverpool City Hospital and Weirton Medical Center.

There will also be a chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and some great food. All money raised will go to help purchase a headstone for Gwen and other expenses due to her untimely death. Unfortunately, at the time of her death, she did not have life insurance and sadly left three young children behind.

We would greatly welcome any donation to auction off or to help with the benefit. Support of this benefit/auction would be greatly appreciated.

Community support and consideration it is greatly appreciated. Arrangements can be made for donations to be picked up by calling 330-385-3586 or 330-303-0686.
