‘Yes’ on State Issue 1

Dear Editor: Starting at 17, I battled addiction for nearly a decade, and during that time I was in and out of county jails and state prisons without getting any real help for my problem. Local police officers, who knew me and my family, wrote me off as a lost cause and said that I would be found dead somewhere. They thought I was going to end up as another statistic. People in prison and jail, like I was, are not getting the proper treatment for their addiction and mental health problems. They are being penalized for having a disease, instead of treated for one. Kudos to KFC

Dear Editor: Saturday, July 7, 2018, was a full day for my wife and I. About 8 p.m., we decided to get a bite at KFC. We pulled up to the drive-thru and ordered. When we came around to the pick up window there was a car in front of us. It was taking a bit of time for them to get their order so I shut off my engine to save gas. When I went to start it again, the battery was dead, completely. I walked up to the window and told them what happened. Dana, the young lady who was the manager on duty, was super nice. Their benefit, not ours

Dear Editor: I would like to comment on Congressman Johnson’s article in the 7-22-18 issue of The Review on how great the tax reform bill that was passed is for the people in his district . Take a closer look at the tax reform bill he is bragging about. Most of the benefits go to the richer people and business interests with the large tax cuts they are getting. No matter how he tries to spin it, it is not going to help the lower to middle class people in his district of which I am one of many. Successful Olde Guard

Dear Editor: I had planned to write a “thank you letter” to all the people who made the 24th Olde Guard Luncheon such a success, but after reading the “spanks” (in Friday’s opinion page of The Review) that has all been ruined. I want to apologize to the East Liverpool High School band members that took a portion of their lunch break, from an all day practice, to raise the spirits of so many people. Building needs some TLC

Dear Editor: East Liverpool has made great strides in improving the look of the city by tearing down and fixing up many buildings, however it is a terrible shame what you see when you come through the main road of East End in East Liverpool — what used to be the old Columbiana County Port Authority building Whoever owns the building now certainly should be held responsible for fixing up or taking care of the building. The grass is growing in the sidewalk, the shrubs on the right hand side are totally disgusting and they block the view, and the building needs painted. I am not ...

Great safety forces, caregivers

Dear Editor: On Friday June 29, I fell very ill at my home and I collapsed on my bathroom floor. I was sweating and was short of breath. I thought I was having a heart attack. I could not stand up and my wife called the Wellsville Police Department and Life Team E.M.S. I did not have a heart attack, however sepsis infection was going through my body which made me very sick.
