Highway Patrol
— Mark Shantz, 27, East Palestine, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his eastbound vehicle on state Route 14 struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Melinda Dean, 57, East Palestine at 4:42 p.m. June 12 in Unity Township. Dean was transported to Heritage Valley Hospital by East Palestine EMS for suspected minor injuries
— Casandra Graham, 49, Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield after his southbound vehicle on Woodsdale Road failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle driven west on Winona Road by Mark Walker, 71, North Pole, Alaska, at 1:42 p.m. June 10 in Hanover township. No injuries were reported.
— Athur Bosworth, 57, Wellsville, was cited for OVI, failure to control, and a seatbelt violation after his eastbound vehicle on County Road 424 went off the right side of the roadway striking a guardrail, re-entering the roadway and traveling off the left side of the roadway, striking a tree and a utility pole at 4:26 p.m. June 7 in Madison Township. Bosworth was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital by West Point EMS for suspected minor injuries.
— Virginia Thomas, 79, Struthers, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle failed to yield while exiting a private driveway and was struck by a vehicle driven north on state Route 7 by Mary Bader, 56, Poland, at 12:08 p.m. June 7 in Fairfield Township. No injuries were reported.
Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies were dispatched at 11:45 p.m. Saturday to Jimtown Road, Unity Township, for one to be removed. The female caller said the person in question stole her car and wrecked it in East Palestine. East Palestine police advised the male was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and the vehicle in question was impounded. He left prior to deputies arriving. Due to her intoxicated state, the female was advised to return to the sheriff’s office when she’s sober.
— A woman on South Street, Knox Township, reported at 6:36 p.m. Saturday that her daughter, who lives on Middle Street, Knox Township, was harassing her over property. She was told how to obtain a protection order.
— The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office called at 4:34 p.m. Saturday to request a deputy make contact with a man on Sandy Springs Road, West Township, after he went missing from the city of Newton Falls. A deputy made contact with the man, David J. Johnson, Sandy Springs Road, West Township, and he was taken into custody on an active warrant out of Columibiana County Municipal Court for public indecency and taken to the county jail.
— Deputies responded to Foracker Street, Middleton Township, for a domestic violence complaint at 3:11 a.m. Saturday. Ashton Vanvorhis, 19, Foraker Street, Rogers, was charged with domestic violence, operating a vehicle after underage alcohol consumption, and no valid license. A female juvenile on scene was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital for a medical evaluation. Vanvorhis appeared for arraignment Monday in Columbiana County Municipal Court.
— A disturbance was reported at 9:41 p.m. Friday on Rochester Road, West Township, but all parties advised deputies everyone was fine and one half was leaving for the night.
— Deputies at 9:13 p.m. Friday were dispatched to Sprucevale Road in Middleton Township for a possible suicidal male. He allegedly sent a text to friends saying he was going to take all of his medication. Upon arrival of deputies, he reluctantly admitted that he sent the text message; however, he refused to disclose any additional information. He agreed to go to East Liverpool City Hospital for an evaluation on a voluntary basis.
— There was no problem when a deputy was dispatched at 8:39 p.m. Friday to Meadow Wood Drive, Butler Township, for a 911 hangup call.
— Deputies were dispatched at 10:29 p.m. Friday to a residence on state Route 39, Yellow Creek Township, regarding a suspicious person observed on the homeowner’s Ring camera. The area was checked and the house was confirmed secure. The homeowner was contacted and advised of the findings.
— Samuel Holshue, Pleasant View Drive, Center Township, was taken into custody on an active warrant out of Alliance Municipal Court, Stark County, and turned over to Alliance Police after Columbiana County deputies were there at 6:10 p.m. Friday to serve a protection order against him.
— A Lake Point Drive, Knox Township, woman at 3:49 p.m. Friday reported a custody issue with her son’s father. She wanted a report on file.
— A man on Roses Run Road, Wayne Township, reported at 3:05 p.m. Friday that a person claiming to be with PayPal scammed him out of $972.
— A man on East Lincoln Street, Salineville, reported at 10:27 p.m. Thursday that an unknown intoxicated male was walking down the road threatening him. Nobody was found. He was told to contact the Salineville police department if he has anymore issues with the male or is able to identify him.
— A woman from Steubenville called at 10:15 p.m. Thursday to request a welfare check on her mother, who resides on Maple Hill Road, Salineville. A deputy spoke with her. She was fine.
