Matthew ‘Matt’ Barrick

Matthew “Matt” Barrick, 39, of Newell, passed away after a structural accident, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. He was born on Dec. 21, 1986, the son of Earl and Rose (Doolin) Barrick of Newell.

Matt was a graduate of Oak Glen High School, he worked locally on many different jobs. He was an all round “Jack of Trades” kind a guy who could just about fix anything. He loved tinkering and working on odds and ends, and was a collector of a vast array of things. He was a guy that would just about help anyone and you could always depend on him when you needed some work done. His greatest love was his family, especially his children. His life lives on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a wife, Tina Barrick of Ohio; a daughter, Avery Barrick, and a son, Braydon Barrick, at home; three brothers, Earl (Brittney) Barrick Jr. of Newell, Joshua Barrick (Maria Pickering) of East Liverpool and Anthony (Katelyn) Barrick of California; several nieces and nephews including Peyton.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell, from 4 p.m. to time of service at 6 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be made to funeral home to assist in funeral expenses.
