CCESC secures grant for Salem kindergarten camp

LISBON — The Columbiana County Educational Service Center (ESC) has secured a grant for the Salem School District Kindergarten Boot Camp this summer. ESC Superintendent Marie Williams said the service center applied for the $111,000 in state funding on behalf of Salem schools. The ESC board was notified in May that the funding was awarded, according to meeting minutes posted online. The funding will go toward staffing and supplies for the program. Sheriff’s Office — A deputy took a report of a missing person at a Wooddale Drive residence in Hanover Township at 5:27 p.m. Sunday. The deputy spoke to the caller upon arrival at the address and had them fill out a missing person form, advising the person would be entered as missing by dispatch. — A deputy was dispatched at 4:24 p.m. Sunday to Teegarden Road, Hanover Township for an ATV complaint. Court News LISBON — A woman accused of abusing an infant was sentenced to 30 months in prison for endangering children, a third-degree felony. Melanie R. Leonard, 36, Glasgow Road, Lisbon, appeared for sentencing recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for the case. She received credit for 75 days served in jail. Two additional counts of endangering children, one a second-degree felony and one a third-degree felony, will be dismissed. Registration for East Liverpool library summer reading program begins today

EAST LIVERPOOL – Registration for the East Liverpool Carnegie Public Library’s Summer Reading Club begins today. The Summer Reading Club, which runs through July 31, is open to all people who use the library in East Liverpool, with most club members typically being early childhood and school aged children. The Summer Reading Program will feature family programs which will be hosted every Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the Salvation Army. LISBON – Superintendent Bill Devon in his report to board members during the May 20 meeting of the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD) said the Robert Bycroft School held their graduation on May 14 and their field day on May 8 and everyone had a great time.
