The best Valentine gift

Dear Editor: When thinking of Valentine’s Day, it’s easy to think of the heart-shaped boxes on store shelves, the flowers and special card to be given to your sweetheart, and/or whatever your choice gift might be for your loved one. The heart has always been a symbol of love and life. The heart pumps the blood throughout the body, cleansing it and nourishing it. This is a continuous cycle. In Leviticus 17:11 we read, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood ...” That which we call blood carries life. If a person loses blood, they lose their life. No blood means no life, ...

‘State of the City’ inspirational

Dear Editor: A big thank you to the great mayor of East Liverpool, Mr. Ryan Stoffel, on the “State of the City” address. I felt that it was very informative and wonderful to hear great things about East Liverpool. We have come a long way in the past few years under his business and our city council. As any small town, in today’s society, we have a lot of work to do to keep it looking great and that takes not only the mayor but everyone in every neighborhood. We must all work together. Complexities of the ‘swamp’

Dear Editor: What? The good guys are the bad guys? How can this be? In the USA, good guys wear white hats and safeguard our rights. But what have we recently learned? Corrupt officials in the “Obama Justice Department” and the FBI conspired and then lied to the FISA court to obtain permission to spy on Americans without justification. Their revulsion at a Trump presidency led them to put Trump and his campaign under an electron microscope. A concocted story about “collusion with the Russians” was made the focus of national newswriters. Meanwhile, Hillary is left unpunished ...

Backstabbers

Dear Editor: Whenever an article appears about the memo, I play the song, “The Backstabbers” by the O’Jays. With that being said, all Mueller need do is hold a presser, announce “I have proof” (of what), drop the mic and leave stage! The main stream media will dutifully roll out the empty barrel, scream into its chamber (for effect) and let the good times roll! What democrat isn’t a spokesperson for what many of us believe to be a failed coup attempt in America. Despite what all view as the rather extraordinary efforts with the continuous waffling, I think that the ...

Government shut down? Are you serious?

Dear Editor: I just heard on the news that the government voted to keep things going for another three weeks, but then it may shut down yet again. They said that by happening at tax season it may slow down tax returns. Apparently they are going to collect money we owe to them for taxes, but may not be sending out tax refunds. So apparently they will have personnel enough on the job to collect from us, but will not have personnel enough on the job to send us the money that we are owed by them. They work for us, and in my humble opinion, they are not doing the job we hired them for at ...

Glimpse at unconventional art

Dear Editor: Thirty-one years ago Andres Serrano, an artist-photographer, urinated into a bottle. Then he immersed a crucifix in the brimming receptacle, and after taking care that none of the precious liquid overflowed the vessel, photographed his handiwork. Heralded by the liberal cognoscenti, Serrano’s creation became recognized as one of the greatest achievements ever in the history of art. The cognoscenti named this nouveau work of art “Piss Christ.” Like a meteor in the night, its creator rocketed to fame, and from patrons in the explosively burgeoning sphere of art, ...
