Upset with blacktop job on SR 170

To the editor: I must be the dumbest person in the world . I always thought that new blacktop was to make roads better not like we ended up with on state Route 170. Where were government inspectors that were suppose to watch out for taxpayer money? Used to be contractors raised manholes not leave them as potholes like state Route 170 westbound curb lane. All along the edge of whole job, grindings were not cleaned up and hauled away. Several spots on new blacktop have clumps of blacktop left behind after the paver went by. Those used to be thrown back in paver not left on top of ...

Liverpool Township official endorses trustee

To the editor: I am sending this letter of endorsement on behalf of Trustee Keith Burke, of Liverpool Township, who is competent, efficient, and honest. I have spent the last 24 years serving the Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals for Liverpool Township, both of which are unpaid positions. During that time, I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. The last two years have been very encouraging. During the span of 24 years of knowing all of the township trustees and fiscal officers, the last two years have been the best for the taxpayers and the township in general ...

Trustees urging support of road equipment levy

To the editor: The Yellow Creek Township Board of Trustees along with the fiscal officer are supporting the "purchase and maintenance of road equipment levy." This is a 2-mill renewal levy for five years. We are encouraging all voters of the township to do the same on Nov. 5. "No Increase In Taxes." In your township there are approximately 39 miles of roads. These roads require good equipment and upkeep of the equipment. Please let us keep your township of Yellow Creek moving forward by supporting this renewal levy. Remember this is your township, let us be proud of it. Should ...

One-Day-at-a-Time Club could use some support

To the editor: The One-Day-at-a-Time Club of East Liverpool was forced to sell their unstable building and are looking to buy another (on land contract if possible). We are a non-profit organization that for 30 years have helped people with problems with alcohol and drugs stay sober and clean. We can take any kind of donations as a tax write-off as soon as we have a safe building to work in. If anyone wants to help, please call Marty at 330-532-9063. David Bell, Wellsville

When are Democrats going to help the people?

To the editor: The Democrats are just who you would want on your jury. They found Kavanaugh guilty before the hearing. Found the witness was telling the truth, before they heard the evidence. Said there was collusion before Mueller gave the report (cost taxpayers $40 million). Now they know Trump should be impeached. When are Democrats going to help the people of the USA, and, not their party? John Arnette, East Liverpool

Praise for city administrators for being proactive

To the editor: I have been following the efforts of the city of East Liverpool's cdministration to rid the city of blighted and uninhabitable properties and they should be applauded for their initiative. City Housing Inspector Bob Smith has "stepped up to the plate" and is spearheading this program with the same enthusiasm, professionalism, compassion and devotion he displayed as a city firefighter for almost three decades. Bob certainly has a rewarding job in many ways as he tries to rid the city of properties that cause health problems, public safety, fire hazards and absolutely ...
