Keep Yellow Creek Township moving forward

To the editor: Yellow Creek Township Board of Trustees along with the fiscal officer are supporting the renewal of the upcoming five-year road equipment/maintenance levy. We are encouraging all voters of the township to do the same. Please keep in mind this is not a new levy. It is a renewal. It will not raise your taxes. The township has approximately 38 miles of road. In the past three years we have improved 29 roads which equals out to approximately 15 miles. The improvements were pavement, chip and seal, and reclaimed roads. With your support we can keep moving forward in 2021. ...

Former Judge supports Gamble

To the editor: Having spent 23 years handling serious crimes as a common pleas judge in Columbiana County and 10 years as county prosecuting attorney before that I know the experience and dedication it takes to be county prosecutor. John Gamble has spent his entire professional life of over 30 years fighting crime and bringing justice to victims of crime. Gamble appeared in front of me weekly when I was a judge so I saw his dedication and tenacity, the kind we need as our prosecutor. Vote for John Gamble for county prosecutor this November. This is not a partisan matter. It is ...

This month, ‘Walk in Their Shoes’

To the editor: Domestic Violence Awareness Month, as usual, is happening now, this October. Traditionally, it is a month to recognize the problem of domestic violence in our communities, call on the public to be supportive of measures to end domestic violence, ask for support for victims, and recognize the efforts of community organizations and public entities to address domestic violence. This month, there will be no rally, no balloon launch, no Purple Door Breakfast. Social distancing prevents those activities. So how should we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month? May I ...

A message from Dem Party Chairman

In the past few weeks, the county prosecutor’s race has seen the introduction of stories that focus on everything except what the county prosecutor does.  I can understand that because the last thing anyone running against John Gamble would want is for this election to come down to qualifications.  For 30 years John Gamble has represented the people of Columbiana County by putting the most dangerous criminals in this county in JAIL.  Why haven’t we heard about his opponent’s cases?  His opponent has not listed one case he has tried and won.  For 30 years when this county had ...

A message from GOP Party Chairman

For weeks now there have been reports that Columbiana County Chief Assistant Prosecutor John Gamble was party to an incident at Pinky’s Lounge in New Garden, Ohio involving serious breaches of confidentiality and just plain inappropriate, illegal behavior by one in his position. This breach in confidentiality concerned highly sensitive and confidential information contained in an active Coroner’s Investigation relating to the tragic death of a local young lady, who in fact died of natural causes. A letter was sent by the mother of this deceased young lady to the County Prosecutor, ...

We need to change our hearts

To the editor: How can we as human beings be so conceited that each time something happens we always try and blame someone else rather than look inwards? We as a species are beyond judgmental in how we go through our lives. These people aren’t beautiful because they aren’t skinny. Or these people are beneath me because they have a different skin tone or faith. Whether we choose to be a part of the solution or the problem is totally up to us. But we have become a people that are numb to the truth because if we actually wanted to do something about it we would have to change ...
