LISBON — A Salem man accused of drug charges was sentenced to 12 months in prison during a sentencing hearing in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

Jerry L. Malone II, 45, West Fifth Street, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs and two counts possession of drugs, all fifth-degree felonies. He also received a mandatory $5,000 fine. Malone possessed methamphetamine, alprazolam and clonazepam on July 23, 2024. The prison term was ordered served at the same time as a six-month term he received recently for another case for possession of drugs for possessing alprazolam on March 10, 2024.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Adam Douglass, 40, Cain Street, East Liverpool, was placed under community control for three years and ordered to serve up to six months at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center during sentencing for fourth-degree felony domestic violence for attempting to harm a woman on March 25, 2025.

— Kara N. Dellapenna, 42, Dunn Road, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 75 days in the county jail for violating the terms of her probation for possession of a fentanyl-related compound and two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, all fifth-degree felonies, for possessing fentanyl, oxycodone and hydrocodone on Feb. 6, 2023.

— Michael L. Marsh, 46, Dover, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony, with sentencing set for Aug. 20 for possessing methamphetamine on May 8, 2025.

— Cody L. McKinney, 36, West Pershing Street, Salem, was sentenced to a suspended 180-day jail term and placed on community control for 12 months after pleading guilty to four counts of nonsupport of dependents, a misdemeanor lesser offense which was originally a felony. Another felony count of nonsupport of dependents was dismissed. McKinney failed to pay support from June 7, 2020 to June 5, 2022 and from May 31, 2020 to May 29, 2022.

— James W. Yacobucci, 56, last known address Canton, was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail for violating the terms of his probation for nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony for failing to pay support from Nov. 13, 2022 to Nov. 10, 2024. Community control was dishonorably terminated.

LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary hearing was set June 29 for Norman W. Bender, 52, Aten Avenue, Wellsville, charged with fourth-degree felony theft for allegedly driving away in a woman’s vehicle without permission on June 16 in East Liverpool.

A preliminary hearing was set June 29 for Seaton I. Ruffner, 42, Ohio Avenue, Salem, charged with fourth-degree felony burglary for allegedly entering a Salem residence without permission on June 17.

A case against Elliott Emanuel Springston, 42, Charles Street, East Liverpool, was bound over to the county grand jury for violation of a protection order, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly being at a residence where a protected person was also present on June 11 in East Liverpool.

A pretrial was set June 29 for Christopher Lee Joy, 41, Avondale Street, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence and violation of a protection order for allegedly showing up at the residence of a protected person on Feb. 7 in East Liverpool and pushing a man in the shoulder on Feb. 16 in Wellsville. He’s also facing probation violation hearings on June 29 for two 2025 cases for assault and obstructing and a 2024 theft case.

Ryan L. Pritt, 44, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, was fined $500 and sentenced to jail terms of 22 days and five days, with credit for 22 days and five days served, for menacing amended from aggravated menacing, domestic violence and drug paraphernalia for threatening a man, saying he was going to kill him and his mother on May 26 in East Liverpool. On Dec. 28, 2024 during a traffic stop, he possessed a burnt glass pipe during a traffic stop in St. Clair Township.

Cassandra P. Pagani, 39, East Fifth Street, Salem, was fined $350 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 179 days suspended and credit for one day served, for assault amended from domestic violence, with 25 hours community service ordered, for throwing a glass object at a man on Sept. 9, 2025 in Salem, causing a cut lip and busted tooth.

A pretrial was set Aug. 25 for David G. Jennings, 60, West Fourth Street, East Liverpool, charged with violating a temporary protection order for allegedly sending cell phone texts to a protected person on June 19 in St. Clair Township.

A pretrial was set July 1 for Chelsea Rose Baker, 36, Laura Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with violation of a protection order for allegedly messaging a protected person on June 17 in East Liverpool.

Daniel Polanco Castillo, 40, Bronx, N.Y., was fined $600 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 165 days suspended and credit for 15 days served, for assault and theft, with 20 hours community service ordered for assaulting a woman, grabbing a phone and running off with it on June 2 in Liverpool Township. According to the affidavit, the victim said he was a solicitor and she recovered her phone in a yard where he had deleted photos and a recording of himself before throwing her phone into the yard.

Samir Foad Esmail, 34, Youngstown, was fined $750 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools, with 25 hours community service and completion of a preventing prostitution course ordered. Cash seized was forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. He was accused of responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity in exchange for money, then traveling to East Palestine on April 24 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession. The affidavit went into detail about what he was requesting from the woman.

A pretrial was set Sept. 14 for Edward Joseph Nosek, 46, Channel View, Texas, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a woman in exchange for $200 plus taking her for drinks, then traveling to Unity Township on June 19 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

A pretrial was set Aug. 10 for James Wesley Sides, 54, Ellwood City, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a woman, requesting a number of very specific actions in exchange for a flat screen tv, vcr/dvd combo, dvds and a case of orange soda, then traveling to Unity Township on June 21 for the meeting with the listed items and the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession. The affidavit said he had a previous conviction in Pennsylvania for statutory sexual assault involving a minor.

Brian R. Baca, 44, Leavittsburg, was fined $700 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools, with 25 hours community service and completion of a prostitution prevention course ordered. He must forfeit $180 to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. On April 18 in Unity Township, he responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranged for sexual activity with a woman in exchange for money, then having the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession when he arrived.

Kacandra I. Seddon, 45, Lisa Lane, Lisbon, was fined $200 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 22 days suspended and credit for eight days served, for two counts of criminal trespass, with 25 hours community service ordered. Seddon trespassed on a Depot Road, Lisbon property in the middle of the night on June 3 in Center Township and again on June 10.

Charges of obstructing official business, no valid license and one way traffic against Leonel Carbajal Garcia, 52, New Cumberland, W.Va., were dismissed due to the defendant being deported. He was accused of giving a false date of birth and name during a traffic stop April 8 in East Liverpool.

Robert Allen Morris Jr., 41, Harvey Avenue, East Liverpool, was fined $1,025 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, leaving a balance of 10 days to serve in jail for violation of a protection order and two merged operating a vehicle impaired counts, with 30 hours community service ordered and an open container charge dismissed. His license was suspended for two years. He was sentenced to an additional 30 days in jail for violating his probation for a 2025 OVI case. Morris was accused of driving by a protected person’s residence multiple times on April 2 and 3 in East Liverpool.

Gage M. Gillespie, 18, Vine Street, East Liverpool, was fined $500 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 175 days suspended and credit for five days served for theft and criminal damaging for stealing a motorcycle on April 19 in East Liverpool and removing lights, cutting wires and defacing the vehicle emblems. He was ordered to pay restitution of $600 to the victim.

Ray N. Carnes, 66, Memorial Road, Kensington, was fined $200 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for theft, with 20 hours community service ordered, for stealing another customer’s wallet after they dropped it on the floor at a store in Hanoverton on Dec. 26, 2024.

A pretrial was set July 1 for Lonnie David Cunningham, 33, North Street, East Liverpool, charged with criminal trespass and obstructing official business for allegedly trespassing on private property in East Liverpool on June 21 then running from police when approached and hiding in some bushes.

A pretrial was set Aug. 26 for Brook B. Hunter, 34, Berlin Center, charged with criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing on a Salem property on June 7 after previously being trespassed from the property in February.

Nickole E. Sears, 41, Township Line Road, Wellsville, was fined $200 for drug paraphernalia for having a crack pipe in her pants during a traffic stop on Oct. 26, 2025 in St. Clair Township.

A pretrial was set Sept. 9 for Haley R. Michaels, 26, South 12th Street, Beloit, charged with two counts of falsification for allegedly making false statements on April 21 to incriminate someone else and to mislead a public official.

A pretrial was set June 29 for Derica Charnel Barnett, 37, West Eighth Street, East Liverpool, charged with complicity for allegedly driving the vehicle that picked up a shoplifter after he fled from the Calcutta Walmart on Feb. 18.

A pretrial was set Aug. 3 for Victoria Rakel Redman, 20, West Sixth Street, East Liverpool, charged with drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a burnt metal pipe during a traffic stop on June 13 in East Liverpool.

A pretrial was set Aug. 19 for David D. Murtaugh, 38, Wood Alley, East Liverpool, charged with criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing on an abandoned East Liverpool property on June 18.

A pretrial was set Sept. 2 for Ryan E. Williams, 44, Leslie Road, Lisbon, charged with obstructing official business for allegedly injecting himself into a domestic violence investigation while he was a bystander at the scene on June 20 in Madison Township.

A pretrial was set Aug. 31 for Jordan E. Smith, 45, Toronto, charged with drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, unauthorized plate and improper/expired registration for allegedly possessing a straw with white powder residue and other paraphernalia during a traffic stop on June 21 in St. Clair Township.

Ricardo Gonzalez Jr., 36, Canton, was fined $1,425 and sentenced to 50 days in jail, with credit for 13 days served, leaving a balance of 37 days to serve for merged OVI charges, driving under suspension and two counts of resisting arrest. An obstructing official business charge was dismissed. His license was suspended for two years. During a traffic stop, he ran from the vehicle on June 9 in Salem and on May 23 in Columbiana, an officer saw him at a known drug house and was aware he had active warrants through the Adult Parole Authority, but when approached, he denied his name several times, then attempted to flee, fought the officer and escaped between houses. The traffic charges stemmed from a traffic stop in Rogers in April.

Charles R. Macmillan, 52, Conkle Road, Salem, was fined $100 for failure to control from a May 21 traffic stop, with an OVI dismissed by the prosecutor due to evidentiary issues.

A pretrial was set Aug. 25 for Chad J. Slagle, 53, Maple Street, Salem, charged with OVI second offense, OVI refusal, marked lanes and two counts driving under suspension.

A pretrial was set Sept. 15 for Christian Law, 34, Massillon, charged with operating a vehicle impaired and speeding.

A pretrial was set Aug. 26 for Cody Pfouts, 30, West Pershing Street, Salem, charged with OVI, OVI breath and improper backing.

A pretrial was set Sept. 8 for Angus Howard Cope, 22, Mechanicstown Road, Kensington, charged with OVI, OVI breath and marked lanes.
