Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office – A deputy responded to South Grant Street at 7:04 p.m. July 23 in reference to a pig roaming in the roadway abandoned by its previous owner. The deputy had a humane officer respond to take the pig. – A Mississippi resident reported at 6:05 p.m. July 23 a friend had posted on Facebook she was going to commit suicide at the East Carmel Cemetery in Middleton Township. EAST LIVERPOOL — The East Liverpool Board of Education Thursday welcomed new staff members who were present and approved multiple resignations, hirings and staff changes. Resignations were approved for Howard Williams, high school math teacher, wrestling coach and assistant football coach, and Erica Ward, eighth grade volleyball. GLENMOOR — Tops 1341 met Monday, July 20, at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church with Leader Mary Gailey presiding. The meeting started with pledges. The Best Loser was Darlene Naukam and the Runner Up was Patty Gruszecki. They chose pie and no eating after dinner as this week’s junk foods. The drawing winners were: 50/50, Pat Allison; Food Chart, Naukam; Weight Loss, Gruszecki; Junk Food, Gailey. Gailey was also three weeks in the Best Loser’s Book. Wellsville receives funding for marina renovations

WELLSVILLE — The village has received funding for renovations at the marina. Fiscal Officer Hoi Wah Yu reported to council Tuesday the village has been awarded $25,000 from the Charles M. Pugliese and Thelma M. Pugliese Charitable Foundation. She noted that the grant could also possibly be used toward matching funds for CDBG Plus dollars. Wah said she applied for the grant in March.
