County health district receives mosquito grant

LISBON — The Columbiana County Health District recently received a $20,000 mosquito grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Plans call for using half to host a tire collection event later this year and half for education, mosquito dunks, which can be used to kill mosquito larvae in standing water, and screen repair kits, according to district Environmental Director and Public Information Officer Laura Fauss. “We’re excited about that,” she said. (WKBN) — The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh toured damage in two areas on Monday following severe weather that rolled through the Valley on Sunday afternoon. Survey results concluded that three tornadoes touched down. Two of those tornadoes occurred in Columbiana County. East Liverpool receives $2.2 million in loans for water and wastewater

EAST LIVERPOOL – The City of East Liverpool has been approved for two loans with a combined total of more than $2.2 million from the Ohio Development Authority which will go toward reviews and engineer plans to improve the city’s drinking and wastewater infrastructures. The first loan for $772,000 is for five years at 4.5% apr that will be used for the preliminary engineering report for the evaluation of alternatives to address the issues in the aging water system.
