EAST LIVERPOOL -- Tri-State Area Tuition Mission Foundation (TMF) President Jackman S. Vodrey has announced the 2026 - 2027 tuition awards. TMF is awarding $181,000 to 22 area students. The top award was $10,000, which 12 of the 22 recipients were awarded.
TMF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable foundation which was launched in 1962 as the Tri-State Area Citizens' Scholarship Foundation. Since 1992, 100% of donated funds have been put directly into tuition awards -- though since 2018, some investment income has been used to help cover a portion of overhead costs.
In addition to serving seven school districts in eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia, TMF accepts applications from students in other educational settings, such as those who are enrolled in online classes or home-schooled. The only requirement is that applicants reside full-time within one of the districts. Recipients are chosen purely based on financial need as determined by the foundation's formula.
Tuition awards function as no-interest loans. Students who accept TMF tuition awards sign multiple documents promising to fully repay their awards starting several months after they graduate or discontinue their education. Tuition awards cover any type of post-secondary education, from college and grad school to licensure and certification programs.
Applications are accepted online each year only between March 1 and April 15. More information is available at TuitionMission.net, the foundation's website. There were no 2026 – 2027 recipients from the districts of Western Beaver or Midland, both in western Pennsylvania.
