Bears sweep rivals

WEIRTON, W.Va. — Oak Glen swept Weir 25-16, 25-14, 25-18 in varsity volleyball action on Wednesday night.

For Oak Glen (13-5-3), Brooklyn Six and Brayley Lash led the attack with 12 kills each, while Averi Martin added 11. Mattie Carney had five kills, and Haylee Stewart contributed four. Mikalyn Balch recorded 42 assists and eight digs. Keira Vick had seven digs and two aces, Ellie Smith had six digs, and both Layla Skavenski and Kylie Robinson had two digs.

Oak Glen’s jayvee team also defeated 25-17, 25-16. Audrina May had five kills, Naomi Ayers and Kennedy Staley had four each, and Lilliana Cole added three. Bryson Adams had eight assists and two aces, Elynn Rogers had seven assists and four aces, and Katie Kliner added seven digs.

The Oak Glen freshman squad beat Wheeling Central 25-11, 25-14. May had seven kills, Rogers and Karter Turley added four each. Adams had 12 assists, Rogers had five assists, and Kliner recorded four digs.

Oak Glen hosts Philip Barbour on Saturday.

Lisbon 3, Heartland 2

LISBON — Lisbon’s varsity volleyball team outlasted Heartland 25-27, 20-25, 25-20, 28-26, 16-14 on Wednesday.

For Lisbon (6-7), Stefanee Stacey led with 29 assists, Maddie Marshalek had 10 kills, Addison Anderson eight, and Alayna Householder six kills and six digs. Abby Ammon had 13 digs, Hannah Davis 15, and Gionna Lenigar anchored the net with three solo blocks and two assists. Kylyn Boyd contributed strong passing throughout.

Heartland fell to 9-6. The Lions host Steubenville Central today.

Heartland won the jayvee match, 25-12, 25-16.

For Lisbon, Lilian Tenzek filled in as libero with seven digs, six perfect passes, and two aces. Gracyn Owens recorded 12 assists, Delaney Pickens had three kills, and Emmy Haynes added two.

Lisbon hosts Leetonia today.

Madonna 3, Wellsville 1

WEIRTON, W.Va. — Weirton Madonna beat Wellsville in four sets on Wednesday.

Scores and stats were not reported.

Wellsville is 3-9 and is at United today.

United 3, Southern 0

HANOVERTON — United was a 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 winner over Southern on Tuesday.

Maelee Smith had 12 kills for the Eagles, while Baylee Smith had 22 digs. Chloe Angelo and Rileah Phillips have five kills each.

United won the jayvee match, 25-17, 25-14. Brennan Ritchie had four kills and two blocks. Scarlett Courtney added 10 points and three aces.
