Area schools bask in volleyball honors
Crestview senior Lainy Auer and Lisbon senior Stefanee Stacey were named players of the year in their respective divisions by The Ohio High School Volleyball District 1 Coaches Association.
Auer, a four-year standout for the 22-3 Rebels, has 632 kills, 62 aces, 25 blocks, 272 digs and two assists. Crestview plays two-time defending state champion Mentor Lake Catholic at 6 p.m. on Thursday in a Div. V regional semifinal at Medina High School.
Stacey, a senior setter, had 617 assists, 120 kills, 69 aces, 10 blocks and 212 digs for the 13-12 Devils who play in Div. VII.
Also honored was Beaver Local coach Sarah Lowe who was named the top district coach in Div. IV. She led her Beavers to 22-3 record and a district final berth.
The District 1 Senior Classic matches will be held at 2 and 3 p.m. on Nov. 23 at Beaver Local High School.
