Here we go again

Dear Editor:Here we go again: dictatorial politicians (this time at the Court House) have crammed their will down the throats of the public.Monday's headline directed our attention to the Hancock County Commissioners plan to reach their greedy, grubby hands into taking over the Animal Shelter. They carried out their threat to take over the Shelter regardless of public opinion.Overwhelming approval of the Animal Shelter levies on the ballot was ignored. They payed no attention to widespread public support for the shelter. Our commissioners only want what's best for the commissioners: the ...

By definition

Dear Editor:In researching the meaning of "travesty," words such as "farce," "parody," "satire," and "charade" come to view. It's just mind-boggling how these words describe our current presidential process - yes, as a country we have survived a multitude of dramatic events over the years and we'll probably survive this.In thinking of the current condition our country is in now, other words come to mind, but are not printable. Maybe it's time to look up "revolution" - makes me wonder if "Trump" is part of that definition.Chip SchellLisbon

The Orlando shooting

Dear Editor;A scene repeated in our nation-flags at half-staff, moments of silence, tears and unbearable grief ...Those in Washington fail to identify the real reason for the Orlando atrocity and again join our president in echoing shrill voices demanding more restrictions and regulations on firearms. No matter the volume of past regulations, the answer to the crisis of the moment is always adoption of further limitations on gun ownership. While loss of life and horrific crimes are deplored, we cannot be blinded to the fact that a man-a self-proclaimed supporter of ISIS-has brought this ...

Blessed

Dear Editor:In April, I was admitted to the UPMC Mercy with bacterial pneumonia and Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome. I was on a ventilator for 10 days. The UPMC staff was wonderful in getting me through successfully. Because I could not walk I was transferred to the Fox Residential, Assisted Living, and Nursing facility in Chester, for occupational and physical therapy. In eight days, the PT staff had me up and walking. Myself, I will heal and get on with it.The important reason that I write this letter is to convey what I observed while at Fox. Most of the residents in the nursing ...

Vote common sense

Dear Editor:I'm an 87-year-old octogenarian that's very concerned about the future of our God-loved country.Even though I'll probably not see much of the next decade, I do have many friends and family that will be effected with who is elected our next president. The thought of Donald Trump at the helm bothers me.I believe Bernie Sanders has the right ideas that I favor, but, my vote, tentatively, will be for Hillary Clinton, who has worldwide experience, who is for the people who need a fair chance, who favors the right of workers, who will fight for better and equal pay, who will always ...
