Not good for coal country
Dear Editor, Recently I read about a Houston, Texas-based company wanting to open a natural-gas-fired power plant in the Harrison County Industrial Park. While on the surface, this may seem like a good deal for the area, as you dig deeper and look at the large scale implications, this project will have a long-term negative impact on the region’s already beleaguered coal miners. While it is true that EmberClear will create initial construction jobs, I must emphasize that this facility will add only 30 permanent jobs into Harrison County.
