Virtues of listening

Dear Editor: The exodus of East Liverpool residents has continued over the years for many reasons, but those who have been elected to our local government over the decades have refused to look in the mirror to see the reasons for this decline. These politicians and appointees have gone out of their way to create an unfriendly environment for business and residents. They continue to come up with creative ways to extract more and more money from business and the local community to continue their spending habits. We have unsustainable pension and benefit packages for city workers. We ...

Stand united

Dear Editor: The “Deep State Bureaucracy” is panicking in fear of eviction. Establishment politicians are gasping for air, frantically flailing to keep their strongholds of power. They campaign pleading “send me to Washington to fix the problem.” Yet, once there, they don’t fix it only to return to their districts campaigning once again send me to Washington to “fix the problem.” Enough is enough! President Trump is under assault by Socialist Progressive Democrats. They are unhinged in hysteria, relentlessly engaging in political sabotage, intellectual dishonesty, hate, ...

Voters should decide

Dear Editor: I have followed your coverage of the recent traffic camera consideration and approval by East Liverpool’s City Council with great interest. I found two aspects of this process to be very instructive: first that the city is going to go forward with the cameras without any input from the voters because city council member Fred Rayl has decided that speeding is a problem. Secondly, that no one is looking out for the interests of the city’s residents, taxpayers and businesses. Despite the assurances provided by law director Charles Payne, there is good reason to believe ...

Program needs reinstated

Dear Editor: I go to the Broadway Wharf every day and feed the animals there. I also pick up all the food container trash left by others who are unable to respect community properties. Today, I extended my cleanup efforts to the roadside on the ramp side of the road. It only took about 40 minutes to pick up the beer and drink bottles as well as miscellaneous things tossed out of a car by the lesser residents of the area. I was given a number of 100-plus trucks using the River Road on certain days by one of the granaries. These drivers see nothing else of the city but River Road and ...

Opposes housing proposal

Dear Editor: Pleasant Heights, East Liverpool. A quiet neighborhood. A friendly neighborhood. A safe neighborhood. A neighborhood that our children and grandchildren can still explore the outdoors, without families dwelling on “what ifs.” An area where it’s peaceful and quiet with all the sounds that any neighborhood should have — children playing, dogs barking in the distance and people laughing. A neighborhood where neighbors still look out for one another. This is our Pleasant Heights. Recently, I received a letter, as did many in the neighborhood, from the East Liverpool ...

Last word

Dear Editor: The base of the Democrat Party believe that all Republicans are pure evil with the media adding to the fervor. The Republicans all know the Democrat base is just plain wrong about everything and recognize the media’s part. This stark difference of opinion makes the idiom of “common ground” a waste of time. The alt-left’s only obsession is to crush Republicans, not better America. As well, the champions of these leftwing radicals (their elected representatives) will do and say anything too encourage lawlessness — cue the media bias against President ...
