Slow the roll

Dear Editor: When the social engineers of government (them) pit Americans (us) against one another, they choose a target, personalize it, so too focus angst. With the unwaivering support of the mainstream media they go after that person because if you push a negative hard enough, it will become the truth. At this time, there is a constant ridicule of the POTUS because ridicule is the most potent weapon. There is no true defense against ridicule because its irrational, it’s infuriating and it can force concessions. As well, the social engineers won’t go outside the expertise ...

Feeling wronged

Dear Editor: I would like for someone to explain to me why the Welfare Department has the right to say a person is a bad person because they have a 23-year-old domestic against them. Because of that, he isn’t allowed to see his grandchildren or talk to them. But yet, the welfare left those grandkids with us for over a year and never said a word about the domestic. They say I’m a bad person also because I told my 14-year-old grandchild that she does not disrespect her parents no matter what the problem is. I was raised to show respect, no matter what. We have not seen our ...

Blessed event

Dear Editor: I am writing this letter of thanks to the Calcutta Health Care Center and all its employees. They had set aside all their duties and time with their families to hold a fantastic Flag Day Picnic for the families of their patients. This was a very blessed event and it was greatly appreciated by all who attended, as well as by God all Mighty I am sure. Thank you so very much, we all enjoyed it a lot. May God’s love be with you all; as I am sure it is. Mike Bevington East Liverpool

An ode to dad

(I am Joe Wollam and I used to live near Calcutta. My mother taught school in the Beaver Local School District for several decades and retired as Dean of Women there. Dad was a staunch Republican until the Nixon years. He had a farm on the Old Fredericktown Road during all of his working life. He retired to Florida and lived there for about 10 years until his death. Many people in the area knew him well. His brother, Don, also lived on the same road, and he had another brother, Jay, who lived north of Fredericktown on state Route 170. After I wrote this “ode,” I felt many of his ...

Graduation

Dear Editor: 2017 Graduation is over. It went well despite all the controversy over the color change of the robes. A white stole was added to the red robes with BL embroidered on it. Hopefully, Beaver Local school officials will make better decisions in the future about changing things without asking the student body or the alumni. Now for another question. Why was the Lord’s Prayer not said? Was it eliminated for the same reason East Liverpool tried to do it? That’s all I have to say about this. Congratulations Class of 2017! Voter fraud

Dear Editor: Isn’t it about time? About time, that is, for an investigation of voter fraud. Let’s see what happens with President Trump’s commission to investigate voter fraud. Let’s see if the media is able to shut this one down—their primary resource, I submit, is what may be regarded as a sound bite mentality of a populace that can only retain what they heard in the last minute of a CNN airing. Those too lazy or unable to think for themselves forget fast. If past kerfuffles are any indication, I predict the media will also win this fight. Rigorously enforced voter ID could ...
