Interest

Dear Editor: Where does the average American’s interests lie? Is it with the unchanging status quo of political ranker or is it the “rule of law”? I can tell you what doesn’t interest me — it’s the Democrat leadership fighting for their political survival with their heralds, the “Drive By Media” in lockstep. This amounts to nothing more than attacking their opponents with irrational ridicule, out-of-whole-cloth hoax’s and nothing more. As well, it means the GOP wringing their hands, pacing the floor, and questioning their own darn selves. What would peak interest ...

Road repair

Dear Editor: I have waited and waited to see the city’s road crew repair Henry Avenue and Davis Street. Do they know that the lower portion of Davis Street is caving in? When this happens, I believe the city will be responsible as officials have been made aware of it. Damages to people’s properties are an expense. The road at Henry Avenue is nearly unable to be traveled on. Where is the money that was set aside for road repair? I have paid city taxes for over 40 years and now my money will need to be used for a car repair. Is that fair that city officials are not upholding ...

No ‘affordable’ care

Dear Editor: Past and present presidents have made promises of affordable health care. So far, I fail to see it. Sure, they put out plans that were supposed to help us find affordable care and millions of people were eligible for state-funded Medicaid. But those, including myself, have not found a plan we can really afford. With ridiculously high deductibles, premiums those on limited incomes cannot afford, the only options are not having any at all or going on Medicaid. Those who chose not to sign up get hit with a tax. Those who chose Medicaid sometimes cannot find a doctor they ...

A mere Tweet

Dear Editor: What respectable American patriot doesn’t want all these TV hosts/anchors to “put a sock in it.” The intelligence of the average American is insulted by their irrational ridicule of the president. Most Americans are “fetched up” proper, taught to mind our “P’s and Q’s,” and to be patient for it is a virtue. Adding injury to insult, this same “drive-by media” fearful of the average Jane and Joe’s opinion demand you “bite your tongue” as though only the media speaks for America. With that kind of condemnation, we get a pit in our stomach. If ...

Slowing down

Dear Editor: Woe, woe unto those who receive a photo violation for speeding. There will be no hope of a reprieve, mercy nor clemency at the rebuttal hearing if you decide to waste your time. This is spoken from experience. Recently I received a citation and filed a rebuttal and appeared before Officer Cooper on Monday the 26th of June. Since my last name begins with a “T,” I was therefore last, (the hearings proceed in alphabetical order) so this allowed me the opportunity to listen to each rebuttal prior to mine. It is a shame no one else there paid attention to what was being ...

The law IS the law

Dear Editor: If the speed limit is 50 miles per hour and a person is driving at 51 mph that person is breaking the law. If the speed limit on a city street is 25 miles per hour and the car going down that street is traveling at 26, it is in violation of the law. This is the same law, the same rules on which drivers were tested prior to becoming licensed. Our police departments — East Liverpool City, Wellsville, and Liverpool Township — should be commended for their generosity in not ticketing individuals who “just barely” break the law. They have allowed a “grace” speed ...
