East Liverpool

— An officer took the car keys of a male who had been recently signed himself out of the hospital without being treated to the police department after responding to his Erie Street residence for the third time to report he wanted back his car keys from his daughter who took them. The male was told by the daughter that after passing out multiple times on that day he was not getting his keys back until he was medically checked. The male asked the officer to take the keys to police station.

— Officers gave a pregnant female a ride who did not want to walk through the town alone at night while pregnant a courtesy transport to Riverview Apartments on March 25.

— Officers spoke with a male on March 25 who said he had video of a female smoking meth with her children present at a Vine Street residence. The male showed the officer the video which appeared to show the female raise what appeared to be a meth pipe to her mouth and he had two of his children speak to the officer and tell him they had seen their mom smoking from the glass pipe on multiple occasions. The officer asked the male to email him the video for charges. As of March 28, the video has not been received.

Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies responded at 1:02 p.m. Monday to the Opportunity School on Brookfield Avenue, Lisbon for a juvenile call.

— A welfare check was requested on a person at a residence on state Route 14, Unity Township at 8:46 a.m. Monday, with the caller not hearing from the person for some time and their phone going directly to voicemail. Deputies arrived and talked to the person, who said he has not had electric to charge his phone, but he is fine. He said he’ll charge the phone at the neighbors and get in touch with the caller.

— A deputy responded to Haessly Road, Hanoverton at 9:09 p.m. Sunday to assist another unit, making contact with a person over their relative’s phone. They were told to give the other agency who was trying to contact them, a call.

— An alleged protection order violation was reported at 7:46 p.m. Sunday on Plymouth Street, Hanoverton where a deputy spoke to both parties involved and found no violation of the order.

— Neighbor troubles were reported at 7:29 p.m. Sunday on Speidel Road, Hanover Township. A deputy spoke with the caller and advised them how to proceed.

— A deputy at 6:26 p.m. Sunday returned a call to a Hanover Township resident, state Route 644, regarding a menacing complaint. They just wanted a report on file and were told how to proceed.

— A welfare check was requested at a state Route 170, Unity Township property, but while a deputy was en route, he was told to cancel. The caller who requested it called in and advised the person in question was fine.

— A representative of Dollar General, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, reported at 7:33 p.m. Saturday that an unknown woman entered the store and put laundry soap, dryer sheets, dish soap and house cleaning soap in her purse, did not pay for the items, then walked out of the store, got into a vehicle and left.

— A deputy was dispatched at 6:15 p.m. Saturday to Y Camp Road, Madison Township regarding a no contact order and learned the suspect had a warrant out of the sheriff’s office for failure to appear on assault. Chad A. Smith, last known address Weirton, W.Va., according to county Municipal Court records, was taken into custody on the warrant.

— A woman on Mick Road, Yellow Creek Township reported at 11:04 p.m. Friday that there’s a no contact order out of county Municipal Court against her ex-boyfriend and he’s texting her cell phone saying he’s coming back to the residence.

— A crisis center in Mahoning County reported at 5:12 p.m. Friday that a person who was in their care getting a medical evaluation made comments about killing a family member that resides on St. Jacob Logtown Road, Salem Township. A deputy spoke by phone with the family member about the comments made and they were aware.

— A welfare check was requested at 6:44 p.m. April 9 on Signal Road, Fairfield Township. A deputy found the people in question to be fine.

— Deputies responded at 7:07 p.m. April 6 to Richardson Street, Middleton Township for a reported domestic, but were unable to make contact with either party. Dispatch called both parties and were sent to voicemail. The man called back at a later time and denied any type of altercation occurred.

St. Clair Township

— Officers were called on March 31 to a Duke Avenue residence to remove a dark vehicle from another person’s driveway. Officers did not locate the vehicle.

— After investigating an alarm at the Head Start site on St. Clair Avenue on March 31, the officer found everything to be secure.

— A driver was issued a warning for no license plate light during a March 31 traffic stop on St. Clair Avenue.

— A driver from out of state was issued a warning for traveling left of center during a March 31 traffic stop on Bell School Road.

— A driver was given a warning for speed during a March 31 traffic stop on St. Clair Avenue.

— A driver was issued a warning for speed during a March 31 traffic stop on Sharon Street.

— A driver was issued a warning for no county sticker on the license plates during a March 31 traffic stop on state Route 170.

— An officer whose cruiser was nearly struck by a vehicle traveling west in an eastbound lane on March 31 on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle when he caught up to him at the intersection of Calcutta Smith Ferry and Spruce roads but the driver failed to stop. The officer pursued the vehicle and observed multiple traffic infractions during the pursuit. The pursuit reached speeds of up to 100 miles with the vehicle driving into oncoming traffic and almost striking several vehicles head on. The driver of the vehicle periodically turned their lights off and on during the pursuit, causing dangerous conditions for the driver and other vehicles. The officer terminated the nearly 30-mile pursuit near state Route 7 and Overhill Road in Boardman due to heavy traffic and excessive speeds and notified Ohio Highway Patrol and Boardman police to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

— A driver was issued a verbal warning for speed during a March 31 traffic stop on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road.

— Officers arrived on the scene of a structure fire at a state Route 267 residence and found EMTs from Northstar were putting the fire out. It was found that gas lines to the home were leaking and the gas company was called.

— Officers advised a Sprucevale Road residence on how to get a protection order against her ex-boyfriend after she reported him driving by her house on March 31. Officers checked the area looking for the male and told her they would also check the area throughout the night.

— Celine McDaniel, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for speed of 60 mph in a 45-mph zone during a March 31 traffic stop on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road.

— An officer spoke to a male who was reported to be slumped over in his truck at a business on state Route 170 on April 1 and was told by the male that he was just sleeping while waiting for his son who was in the store.

— Officers investigated an alarm at Giant Eagle on April 1 and while nothing appeared to be tampered with, they did locate a lock on a container that appeared not to be lock and contacted a keyholder who said she may have forgotten to lock it the night before.

— Officers filed a report for two parties involved in a private property accident on April 2 in the parking lot of a business located on state Route 170.

— An officer took an accident report for a female who said that while in the Walmart parking lot on April 2 it began to rain very hard making it hard for her to see and she struck a utility pole in front of Walmart causing damage to her car.
