Museum of Ceramics to host lecture on the Sandy and Beaver Canal
The East Liverpool Museum of Ceramics, located at 400 E. Fifth St., will host a free public lecture on Aug. 29 at 3:30 p.m. Professional engineer Doug Bacso of Cleveland has spent years researching the entire 73-mile Sandy and Beaver Canal system. Through extensive study, Bacso has created detailed maps and drawings documenting the canal and its locks. During the presentation, Bacso will discuss the construction of the Sandy and Beaver Canal, its significance to the East Liverpool area, and the factors that ultimately led to its decline.
