Wellsville residents vent frustrations with village issues to council

WELLSVILLE — Several residents had a lot to say regarding their concerns with issues in the village during Tuesday’s council meeting. During the public portion of the meeting several residents addressed their concerns about weeds and neglected yards owned by the village, noting if residents are supposed to take care of their property, then the village should be responsible for village property. LISBON — Board members during Monday’s Columbiana County Board of Development Disabilities meeting approved the purchase of a 2026 Ford E350 Glaval van from Carpenter Bus sales for $118,900 plus a $1,500 delivery for a total of $120,400. Superintendent William Devon told board members that they had given the approval in May to purchase a van for $100,000, but after looking, the only ones he could find were single axle vans and he would feel better if the board would approve the new amount of $120,400 for a dual axle van for more stability in the snow. Toronto woman pleads guilty to having knife at Utica Shale Academy

LISBON — A woman accused of having a knife on the grounds of the Utica Shale Academy school in Salineville earlier this year admitted her guilt Thursday. Britania B. Brown, 45, Toronto, pleaded guilty to illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance in a school safety zone, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly having the knife out in the school parking lot on Jan. 14. Court News LISBON — A Salineville man who fled from deputies after threatening another man in the Spring Valley Road area in 2020 was sentenced to consecutive sentences of 36 months and eight months for a total of 44 months in prison.
