LISBON — Upcoming court dates were set Monday in the case against Heather J. Birkmire, who is accused of cruelty to animals in the deaths of five horses last year at Pure Gold Stables in Salem Township. Dates were set for a status conference hearing at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 28, and a jury trial at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 12 during a brief pretrial hearing Monday. Agencies in the Mahoning Valley will receive more than $270,000 in state grants to help connect survivors of opioid addiction to treatment and recovery programs. Municipal Court LISBON — A New York man was fined in Columbiana County Municipal Court Monday after attempting to help a federal prisoner escape incarceration with a drone. EAST LIVERPOOL – The multipurpose Goodwill Center in East Liverpool is estimated to be open and operational by mid-November at the earliest and early January at the latest. Career center's time change to provide more lab experience

LISBON — The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center has started the new school year with the new class time change that is expected to give students more lab time. The change was approved by the board of education earlier this year, effective for this school year. As a result, instead of beginning the day at 7:50 a.m. classes are now starting at 7:45 a.m., resulting in an additional five minutes per day, which translates to a new daily career lab time of 179 minutes.
