EAST LIVERPOOL — Christopher Stevens, 36, 238 Moore St., was arrested and charged with obstruction of official business, aggravated menacing, inducing panic, aggravated arson and arson following an incident early Tuesday morning at 665 Walnut St. According to Police Chief John Lane, officers had initially responded to the residence at 665 Walnut St., for a domestic situation where Stevens had been arguing with his girlfriend and he told her he was going to burn the place down. LISBON — A woman accused of threatening to blow up the Leetonia K-12 school in January was openly indicted this week for misdemeanor aggravated menacing, with her case transferred back to Columbiana County Municipal Court. Erin M. McGuire, 37, Chestnut Street, Leetonia, was originally charged with a first-degree felony of making terrorist threats in county Municipal Court, with the case bound over for consideration by the county Grand Jury. Nursing home evacuated due to gas leak

EAST LIVERPOOL — Valley Oaks Care Center, 500 Selfridge St., East Liverpool, had to evacuate patients Thursday morning after construction crews working outside struck a gas line resulting in a gas leak. The East Liverpool Fire Department responded to the center at 11:44 a.m. Upon entering the building to check it out firefighters detected gas inside and began evacuation procedures. LISBON — Columbiana County commissioners on Wednesday extended the bid opening date for the village of Hanoverton sewer connection project to May 27, giving engineer’s office personnel more time to talk with potential bidders about what’s expected in their bids.
