Oak Glen youth league treasurer arrested for embezzling of funds

NEW CUMBERLAND – The longtime treasurer of the Oak Glen Junior Bears Baseball Association has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling at least $11,000 from the youth athletic league. David Andrew Brown, of Chester, was arrested Tuesday, according to Magistrate Court records, and charged with one felony count of embezzlement. He has since posted the $20,000 bond, and is scheduled to next appear in Hancock County Magistrate Court Aug. 12. Hancock County Schools provides meals to children during the summer

NEW CUMBERLAND - Hancock County Schools will, once again, offer the federally funded Summer Food Service Program, providing breakfast for children up to the age of 18 who would like to participate. ELFD receives $174K grant to update haz-mat equipment

EAST LIVERPOOL – East Liverpool Fire Department (ELFD) recently received a grant to update its hazardous material equipment. Fire Chief Antony Cumo said the department received a State Homeland Security Preparedness Grant in the amount of $174,432. Cumo said the department has received support through the grant for the past three to four years. Three years ago, the department received $84,000 for Area Ray monitoring equipment. EAST LIVERPOOL — The Columbiana County Land Reutilization Corp. (The Columbiana County land bank) has been awarded $230,000 in the latest round of funding from the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program to demolish 20 dilapidated structures in three county municipalities.
