Trash will be collected in East Liverpool on Memorial Day

Trash is being collected from East Liverpool residences Monday on Memorial Day. Refuse and recycling department employees are scheduled to work. Residents whose trash is normally collected on Mondays are asked to have their trash set out at the curb for pick up as usual. Trash service on any of the city routes will not be affected by the national holiday.

EP woman pleads not guilty in animal cruelty case

LISBON — An East Palestine woman pleaded not guilty during arraignment Monday on four counts of prohibitions concerning companion animals related to 21 animals seized from her home due to alleged unsanitary conditions. Jennifer Albert, 38, West Main Street, was ordered to have no companion animals as a condition of her recognizance bond for the misdemeanor charges. Beaver Local teacher suffers injuries in dog attack

LISBON — One of two dogs that attacked a woman out for a walk Friday at Lake Tomahawk was scheduled to be euthanized today, with the other one in quarantine in Mahoning County, according to Columbiana County Dog Warden Heidi Wallace. Wallace said Monday the owner of the one dog volunteered to put the dog down, but the owner of the other one refused and said the dog would remain in quarantine. Phillip Jackson, 69, Riverview Street, appeared for sentencing recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for a lesser offense of aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony, and misdemeanor domestic violence.
