Jim Schwartz resigns CLEVELAND (AP) — Jim Schwartz has resigned as the Cleveland Browns’ defensive coordinator after three seasons. The team announced Friday that Schwartz handed in his letter of resignation a day earlier. Schwartz has led one of the league’s top defenses over the past three seasons but was upset about being passed over for the head coach job, after many thought he was the favorite to replace Kevin Stefanski. Beaver Local, Oak Glen await OVAC boys pairings

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Owen Hill had 24 points to guide Beaver Local to a 68-52 win over Oak Glen on Thursday in boys basketball action. Beaver Local is 15-4 and should secure the second seed in the OVAC Class 4A tournament. The cutoff date was Thursday and pairings for next week’s games should be released today. ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Saturday’s final game of OVAC Championship Saturday inside the ECO Center is a familiar match up with the Class 4A trophy on the line. For the third time in four years, Indian Creek will take on Oak Glen for the Class 4A championship Saturday night. Indian Creek has been victorious in the last two championship battles, winning 65-46 a year ago for their second title in three years over the Golden Bears.
