WELLSBURG, W.Va. — Beaver Local’s Cole Long was a part of four Class 4A winning events on Friday and Saturday at the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Swimming Championships at Brooke Natatorium.

Individually Long won the backstroke in 53.59, while taking the 200 individual medley in 2:00.06.

Mason Boggs, Justin Bailey, Abram Rettos and Long led the Beavers to a 4A win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.82). Zane Elick, Rettos, Boggs and Long also were the top Class 4A time in the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.3).

Rettos was also first in the Class 4A 100 butterfly in 58.62.

Brenna Cunningham produced a Classs 4A winning effort for the Beaver Local girls in the 100 butterfly (1:07.91), while United freshman Leighton Birmingham turned in the top overall time in the event in 1:02.48. Birmingham also recorded the top overall time in the 200 individual medley (2:17.13).

Columbiana’s Tori Buckingham recorded Class 1A-3A wins in the 50-yard freestyle (26.95) and the 200 freestyle (2:10.67).

In the boys competition, Columbiana’s Oliver Cuff won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.01.
