Potters dig deep to strike down Oak Glen

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. -- East Liverpool's boys basketball team banded together to gain a 52-49 win over Oak Glen on Saturday.
The Potters (8-6) were playing without leading scorer Dre'Keim Abercrombie who injured his leg on the last play of the game with Indian Creek on Friday.
Tyler Kirby led a balanced East Liverpool attack with 11 points. Jayce Douglas added nine points, while Dre Brown had eight points.
Oak Glen got 13 points from Gavin Geisse.
East Liverpool and Oak Glen (6-3) were fourth and fifth respectively in the Class 4A OVAC standings coming into Saturday.
East Liverpool is due to be at Brooke on Tuesday.
Oak Glen hosts Wellsville on Tuesday.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- LaNease Andrews scored 19 points but it wasn't enough for East Liverpool to keep pace in a 59-31 loss to Barnesville on Saturday in the Buckeye 8 Athletic League fifth place game at the ECO Center.
East Liverpool is 6-11 and hosts Union Local on Thursday. The Jets beat Indian Creek 48-36 in the Buckeye 8 championship on Saturday night.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Beaver Local suffered a 50-31 loss to Bellaire in the seventh place game of the Buckeye 8 Athletic League on Saturday at the ECO Center.
Bella McLevey scored 14 points for the Beavers, while Aubree Hines had 23 points for the Reds.
Beaver Local is 6-11 and hosts Oak Glen on Thursday.
Oak Glen 70, Weir 35
WEIRTON, W.Va. -- Oak Glen's girls basketball team produced a 70-35 win over rival Weir on Saturday.
Oak Glen moves to 7-4, while Weir fell to 1-12.
The Golden Bears host unbeaten Edison today and will be at Beaver Local on Thursday.
