Beaver Local comes up empty at Salem

SALEM — Salem’s boys soccer team scored a 4-2 win over Beaver Local on the back half of the boy-girl doubleheader on Tuesday.

Salem (11-3-2) got two goals each from Maxwell Zacharias and Jake Davis. Landon Bricker, Zacharias and Davis had assists.

Beaver Local is 9-5-2 and concludes its regular season.

Salem is at Sandy Valley on Thursday.

The Beavers will host Coshocton in a Division IV sectional game on Oct. 16.

Salem 5, Beaver 3

SALEM — Salem broke through the Beaver Local defense and snapped the Beavers’ nine-game winning streak Tuesday.

The Quakers scored four straight goals after falling behind early on the way to a 5-3 win over the Beavers, who allowed six goals in their 14 victories and 12 goals in their two losses.

Karlie Sampson scored two first-half goals, one off an assist by Ava Lee, and Chaya Murray added another to give Quakers a 3-1 lead.

Maddy Andres extended the lead to 4-1, scoring off assists from Sampson and Emilee Lewis. The Beaver closed to withing 4-3, but Emily Sinsley had an insurance goal with 2:03 remaining to seal the Quakers’ 5-3 victory.

Goalkeeper Paige Menough recorded nine saves for the Quakers.

Leah Stewart led the Beavers with two goals and one assist. Peyton Dunn had one goal and Riley Springer one assist. Tatum Duncan made nine saves.

Salem finishes the regular season at 11-3-3.

East Liverpool 2, Harrison Central 0

CADIZ — Greyson Fitch had two goals to lead East Liverpool to a 2-0 win over Harrison Central on Tuesday.

Dom Johnson and Cam Dubray had assists.

Loyd Hendershot had five saves.

East Liverpool is 7-5-1 and host Weir on Thursday.

Oak Glen 6, Brooke 2

WELLSBURG, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s boys soccer team was a 6-2 winner over Brooke on Tuesday.

Oak Glen is 6-7-3 and hosts Edison on Thursday.
