Potters win on the road

NEGLEY — East Liverpool’s golf team scored a 189-200 win over East Palestine on Thursday at the East Palestine Country Club.

For the Potters, Donovan Shallcross had a 44, Kam Engle 47, Garrett Cooper 48 and Carstin Suznevich 50.

For the Bulldogs, Luke Kinkead had a 44, Brad Bartels 45, Clark Rutledge 54 and Hunter Hupp 57.

Beavers lose to Clippers

COLUMBIANA– Columbiana’s girls golf team continued its strong start to the season with a 173-211 victory over Beaver Local on Wednesday at Valley Golf Course.

Claire Banner, Maddie Jackson and Alyssa Kakavros each fired a 42 to pace the Clippers, while Ashlynn Day and Sydney Spaite both shot 47 to round out the team score. Columbiana improves to 3-0 with the win.

Beaver Local was led by McKenzie Ash, who also shot a 42. Brenna Jones added a 48, followed by Jules Johnston with a 59 and Emily Druschel with a 62.

DeWine targets prop bets in Ohio

COLUMBUS — Gov. Mike DeWine on Wednesday called on the Ohio Casino Control Commission to ban all proposition bets in the state, citing concerns about the integrity of sports and the safety of athletes.

The announcement follows a Major League Baseball investigation involving two Cleveland Guardians pitchers, Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz, who were placed on paid administrative leave through the end of August. Reports indicate the investigation involves suspicious betting activity related to player-specific prop bets.
