Clippers get close to record
POLAND — Columbiana’s girls golf team improved to 2-0 on the season with a commanding 165-212 win over Poland on Wednesday at Valley Golf Course — just one stroke shy of tying the school’s 9-hole team scoring record.
Claire Banner led the Clippers with a stellar 37, followed by Maddie Jackson’s 38. Alyssa Kakavros added a 42, and Nia Missos carded a 48 to complete the scoring.
Poland was paced by Capri Carchedi with a 48. Lila Gordon shot 52, Samantha McKenzie followed with 55, and Macey Kapics rounded out the scoring with a 57.
Columbiana will return to Valley Thursday for a matchup with Beaver Local.
Carrollton 176, Salem 190
CARROLLTON — Salem’s boys golf team dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 190-176 loss to Carrollton on Tuesday at Carroll Meadows Golf Course.
Eli James led the Quakers with a 45, while Tanner James followed with a 46. Caden Arcuri shot a 48 while both Cason Citino and Gabe Leek finished with 51s.
Carrollton was paced by Michael Mullen with a 42. Nathan Sutton carded a 43, Parker Roudabush shot 44 and Colton Welter added a 47 to complete the Warriors’ team score.
Salem will look to bounce back Friday when it hosts Lisbon at Salem Hills. Tee time is set for 8 a.m.
Edison 201, East Liverpool 216
EAST LIVERPOOL — Edison’s boys golf team defeated East Liverpool 201-216 on Wednesday at the East Liverpool Country Club.
For the Wildcats, Xander Haught led the team with a 47. Isaiah Filburn and Luke Ferralli both had 51s and Jordan Everhart had a 52.
