East Liverpool rallies past Indian Creek

WINTERSVILLE — East Liverpool’s volleyball team earned a key Buckeye 8 Athletic League win on the road by topping Indian Creek 13-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-18 on Thursday night.

East Liverpool’s Skye Stokes had 18 kills, two aces and a block. Emma Ludwig had 15 kills and 12 blocks. Sharna Wilson had six kills and 11 blocks. Terran Stacey had three kills and five blocks.

East Liverpool won the jayvee match, 25-19, 26-24. East Liverpool is at Beaver Local on Tuesday.

Oak Glen wins tri

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. –Oak Glen swept Beaver Local and Weir in a tri-match Thursday.

Oak Glen beat the Beavers, 28-26, 25-11.

For the Golden Bears, Hannah Rogers had eight kills, five digs, four points and two aces, while Jaedyn Hissam had 17 assists and seven points. Also for Oak Glen, McKayla Goodlin had eight points and nine digs. Brittany Giorgini also had nine digs.

For Beaver Local, Madison Smith had 10 kills, while Abby Jackson added five kills. Elaina Howell had eight assists. Madison Kendall chipped in 10 assists.

Oak Glen beat Weir 25-13, 25-8.

Jadyn Smith had 10 points and two aces for the Golden Bears, while Jaedyn Hissam added 23 assists and nine points. Alayna Kranis added had seven kills. Hannah Rogers finished with nine kills. McKayla Goodlin had eight kills, while Hanna Tice added six points, five kills and two blocks.

Beaver beat Weir 25-20, 25-4. Jackson had six kills, while Morgan Bouscher had three kills and four digs. Hannah Call had three aces and six digs. Karlee Furman had three kills and three assists.

The Beavers play on Saturday at Meadowbrook.

Beaver Local beat Oak Glen 25-13, 25-14 and 25-22, 25-19 in a pair of jayvee matches. Erin O’Hara and Cierra Thurik led the way for Beaver Local.

Wellsville 3, Columbiana 0

WELLSVILLE–The Wellsville volleyball team powered through Columbiana 25-10, 25-6, 25-11 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Thursday.

The Tigers are now 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the EOAC.

Wellsville was led by Kiki Perry with 16 points, while Jenna McNicol had 13 digs and Regan Pierson had nine points, 25 assists and three aces.

Also for Wellsville, Greta Cartwright had 12 assists, Kinley Martin had seven kills and four aces, Delaney Cochran had five kills and Peyton Davidson had three kills.

For the Clippers, Maci Linhart had 10 digs, while Alyssa Tohm had nine digs and four assists. Harmony Offenburg added two kills.

Wellsville won the jayvee match 25-13, 25-19. Paige Green had seven aces and five assists for the Tigers, while Emily McNicol had three aces and six assists. Katelynn Exline added five kills.

Southern 3, United 1

HANOVERTON — Southern Local spiked United 21-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-20 on Thursday.

Southern (4-1, 3-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) was led by Riley Felton’s 14 points, 11 kills and eight blocks. Erin Boyle had 13 points and 10 digs. Hannah Hayes had 20 assists and four kills, while Maddie Paxson had seven points, six kills and seven digs.

For United (2-5), Rachel Bowen had six aces, 16 kills and five blocks. Tori Tschappatt had eight kills and two blocks.

Southern won the jayvee match in two sets. Camryn Mellott had eight points and three kills. Delainey Mellott had eight points and two kills.

Southern hosts East Palestine on Tuesday. United is at Wellsville on Tuesday.
