Fourteen members of the Calcutta Lions Club boxed up 667 pairs of glasses, a box of sunglasses and two boxes of cases at its regular meeting July 8. The Calcutta Lions Club collects used eyeglasses across the area for recycling for the Recycle For Sight program. These glasses are then taken to the Uniontown Lions Club where glasses are sorted by prescription and re-boxed. Doctors then pick up the glasses and taken them on missions to distribute to such countries as South America and Africa. The bins were located at Giant Eagle, Lee Eye Care and Dr. Detwiler’s office.
