Dear Editor:A disturbing photograph of a child with his grandmother and her friend who nearly overdosed due to heroin in East Liverpool has made national headlines and put a face on the ongoing heroin epidemic.The vehicle was stopped by the police due to erratic driving. The two individuals in the front seat, James Lee Acord and Rhonda L. Pasek, were revived by EMTs. Dear Editor:Like most Americans, I am in total shock over our current drug epidemic. What is really scary is there doesn't seem to be a quick fix, but for me I have some issues with just that.For example, we invade Afghanistan, where their primary crop is poppies - from which heroin is derived yet although heroin is outlawed in every country we didn't eradicate the crop.Now I'm sure there were some lame duck excuse for not - like other products are made from such, etc.In reality, whatever their GNP would be from other products, our country alone could probably double it.
