Lauds mayor, council for stepping up

To the editor, In a recent article stating, “East Liverpool Council Discusses How Best To Use Cannabis Funds To Benefit City,” it was interesting to note one suggestion was to control vegetation along the highways at key entrances to this city. Initial perception —of anything —is critically important. Anyone coming to the city for the first is going to see the unkept entrances and think: “Oh, my!” Council member Brian Kerr stated that Mayor Bobby Smith said many times that these monies should be used for tangible improvements. Tangible means, “something than can ...

Property owners can’t keep taking hits

To the editor, Someone in Columbus has made the decision that our properties are worth more money and therefore more taxes. Supposedly house bills 129 and 186 were passed that will give (some) property owners a temporary refund in the next half of 2025. St. Clair police have an additional levy on for May, and Beaver Local is already complaining about the money they will lose. Our police do a good job and it’s not that I don’t want them to have the equipment they need, but property owners just can’t keep taking these hits. Credit Card Competition Act is needed

To the editor, It is in the DNA of small businesses to do everything possible to keep prices down while serving their communities. Pricing structure threatens LTC pharmacies

To the editor: As a nurse anesthesiologist and owner of a nursing practice, I’ve come to really appreciate the collaborative ecosystem that is healthcare. Even something as simple as a prescription shows how interconnected our system is — you’ve got scientists developing treatments, providers making clinical decisions, and pharmacists making sure everything’s used properly, each bringing essential expertise to the table. Unfortunately, when we overlook the working parts that make our healthcare system function, we risk serious disruption. In under two weeks, that is exactly ...

Advocating Multiple Sclerosis awareness

To the editor: In 2006, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). When diagnosed, I did not know what MS was. Others, along with myself, experience the various challenges of MS, and no two people experience the same effects. No one has chosen to live with MS; it has chosen us. There are things known and things unknown regarding MS. Every hour, someone is diagnosed with MS, a chronic disease of the central nervous system for which there is no cure. MS interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body. A few of the impacts of someone with MS could be one or more of ...
