Saddened by all the trash in our area

To the editor: What happened while I was gone living my life in various places across the United States? What happened to my beloved Columbiana County? I have always been and still am proud of where I was born and grew up. However, I am deeply saddened by the enormous amounts of trash I see discarded along various highways and ditches. A recent story on the local news mentioned it was the Ohio Department of Transportation who is responsible for cleaning up our freeways while at the same time performing snow removal and endless repairs. To the editor: During our holiday season I have for years enjoyed the articles you publish by the late Bob Popp. They are genuinely moving and heartfelt. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Popp years ago when living in Midland as he knew my father and I found he was originally from the Midland area and his writings seemed to be somewhat fact-based, family-oriented and positive. Not a fan of DeWine’s handling of virus

To the editor: Ohio Governor Dewine has told us to avoid large gatherings, avoid eating with others outside your household and wear a mask. Like good brainwashed Chinese soldiers, we put on our masks that if not handmade are made in China. While politicians like DeWine says to follow the science as Pelosi, Newsom, Mayor Lightfoot, Feinstein and on and on are caught on camera without a mask. To the editor: I felt compelled today to share a brief note about my experiences with the Columbiana County Fairground Covid-19 drive-through vaccination clinic as managed, run and staffed by our County Health Department. After a few tries on Monday afternoon (Feb. 1) I soon got through and was quickly able to make a reservation for the Friday (Feb. 5) vaccination clinic. To the editor: I don’t know who organized the Lisbon Fairgrounds vaccination site but let me tell you they all need commended. After seeing the horror stories of other sights, I was very apprehensive. From the person who registered me to the actual injection everyone was so professional, pleasant and accommodating. I can’t thank them enough. These other sites need to take note of what is happening in the small town of Lisbon. A public thank you for helping his father

To the editor: Alzheimer’s is an awful disease. To witness a loved one travel this path is a deep hurtful pain I wish on no one. In the advance stages, like my father’s, they crave routines. With great anticipation they look forward to the mailman delivering mail and, yes, garbage collection day is a big day for my dad. He gets to greet his buddies and wave, laugh and tell them his stories. Recently East Liverpool was hit with a massive snow storm that thankfully I don’t have to endure any more down in Texas.
