Protect parents: Vote no on Issue One for abortion rights

As a father of three young women doing my best along with my wife Lauren to raise them amid today’s mixed-up culture, there is so much to be concerned about. What messages are they getting about the world outside from the shows they watch? What will it be like when they are old enough to date? And what will it take to raise up smart, courageous, independent women? Until recently, one thing we didn’t worry so much about was whether underaged girls could be secretly convinced to get abortions or even sex change operations without their parents even knowing. But if the radical Issue ...

#Every1KnowsSome1

To the editor: #Every1KnowsSome1 was recently chosen as the theme for 2023 Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The current perimeter rule is hurting the Washington, D.C. air travel market. It hampers healthy competition, resulting in high consumer costs for Ohioans and travelers across the country. DCA is the only airport in the nation that is subject to this federally imposed artificial restriction, and ...

Vote ‘No’ on August 8

To the editor: On August 8, there will be a special election to consider a constitutional amendment that would result in sweeping and undemocratic changes to the rights of citizens to propose and amend Ohio’s constitution through the ballot initiative process. A process that has been in place for 111 years. Issue 1 is the brainchild of a group of Republican politicians who have decided that the time has come to take power away from voters. They have decided this change is so urgent the state should spend $20 million for an almost unheard of August election rather than putting the ...
