Othella McKeever

1939-2026

Othella McKeever, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on March 25, 2026, in Chester, West Virginia, at the age of 86. Born on April 1, 1939, in Chauncy, Kentucky, Othella lived a life full of warmth, love, and dedication to her family and community.

A devoted daughter of the late William and Nina Mae (Black) Conley, Othella grew up with strong family values that she carried throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, William McKeever, and her dear sister, June Gerren.

Othella was a proud member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1956, where she created lifelong friendships. She enjoyed staying connected with her classmates through regular lunches and dinners.

Her work life was marked by diligence and passion. Othella held various positions throughout her career, including tenures at Potter’s Lumber and Hills Department Store, and she later flourished as a Dress Buyer for D.M Ogilvie and as a clerk for JCPenney. Her career was defined by her hard work and commitment.

Beyond her professional life, Othella’s heart belonged to her family. She was a remarkable mother to her children, Don (Amy) Maltarich and Robin (Mike) Pusateri, and a doting grandmother to Matthew (Natalie) and Jason (Tara) Pusateri, Ashley (Brad) McNear, and Halle and Sawyer Maltarich. Her legacy continues through her seven great-grandchildren, whom she adored deeply. She is also survived by her loving brothers, William (Mary) and Benton (Glenda) Conley.

Othella also found joy in spending winters in Florida with friends, where her friendly spirit and zest for life were treasured by all who knew her. She was an active member of her church community, often lending a helping hand to those in need. Her hobbies included reading and line dancing, which brought her immense joy and allowed her to express her vibrant personality.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Calcutta, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman.

The family would like to extend their eternal gratitude to the staff, nurses, and aides at Fox’s Pepperberry Suites for their hard work and wonderful care given to Othella.
