David J. Stefl

1935-2025

David J. Stefl, a cherished resident of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at the Calcutta Health Care Center after a brief illness. At 90 years young, David was born in Smith Ferry, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 11, 1935, to the devoted parents, James and Alice Stefl Barnes, who have since passed.

From an early age, David embodied a remarkable work ethic, dedicating 42 years of his life to Hall China as a skilled Ram Press Operator. He was not only a stalwart member of the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ in Chester but also played an integral role in its community. A proud graduate of East Liverpool High School, class of 1955, David served his country honorably in the US Army Reserves. In his free time, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often casting his line at his favorite fishing holes.

David’s legacy is enriched by the love of those who preceded him, including his devoted wife, Eva Clutter Stefl, and his beloved siblings, Charlotte Mader, Virginia Obenour, and Clarence Stefl. He leaves behind cherished memories to his brother, Kenny Stefl of Chester, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will hold his spirit close to their hearts.

A celebration of David’s life will take place on Monday, Sept. 29, at 3:30 p.m. at the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ, led by his minister, Evangelist Rico Brown. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester from 1 to 3 p.m. on the same day. A committal service will follow on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel in Columbiana County Memorial Park, where David will be laid to rest, surrounded by the love he shared throughout his remarkable life.
