Court News LISBON — A Niles man accused of drug charges for possession of methamphetamine and cocaine was sentenced recently to 30 months in prison, or two and a half years.
John Dennis Lanam, 45, was sentenced during a hearing in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to 30 months for aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony, and nine months for possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, with both terms to be served concurrently, or at the same time.
A charge of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility was dismissed. He was accused of possessing methamphetamine in an amount equal or greater than bulk but less than five times bulk and possessing cocaine on June 16, 2024.
Also in Common Pleas Court:
— Gloria Peddicord, 47, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool pleaded guilty to passing bad checks, a fourth-degree felony, with sentencing set for Jan. 9. Peddicord was accused of attempting to defraud a man with a bad check written for $17,650 on Jan. 30.
— Brandon Phillips, 23, Salem Alliance Road, Salem, was ordered to serve 270 days in the county jail, with credit for 208 days already served, leaving a balance of 62 days still to serve for violating the terms of his probation for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. His community control was dishonorably terminated. Phillips possessed methamphetamine on Sept. 1, 2022.
— Ciara M. White, 26, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, was sentenced to nine months in prison for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on Jan. 27, 2024.
— Mackain Lee Wallace, 44, Ephriam Street, East Liverpool, was ordered to serve 60 days in the county jail, with credit for one day served, leaving a balance of 59 days still to serve in jail for violating the terms of his probation for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. His community control was dishonorably terminated. Wallace possessed methamphetamine on May 6. 2022.
— Sheldon L. Robinson, 51, Canonsburg, Pa., was sentenced to six months in prison for attempted failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a fourth-degree felony, and nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, with credit for three days served in jail. A charge of driving under suspension was dismissed. His driver’s license was suspended for three years. The failure to comply charge stemmed from an incident on Jan. 30, 2022. The nonsupport charge was for failing to pay child support from June 7, 2020 to June 5, 2022.
Grand Jury
LISBON — Leroy C. McEldowney, 46, Hammondsville, was served Tuesday with a secret indictment issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on May 31, 2024.
