Grand Jury

LIBSON — A Salem man was recently served with a secret indictment by the Columbiana County Grand Jury on third-degree felony strangulation and first-degree felony assault and misdemeanor assault. According to the indictment, Anthony Gregory, 48, Plymouth did knowingly create a substantial risk of serious physical harm by means of strangulation or suffocation on April 23.

Also served with secret indictments were:

— Lisa Rowland, 42, Minerva Street, for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony five, for allegedly knowingly obtaining, possessing, or using a controlled substance or a controlled substance on Sept. 6, 2024.

— Gregory Cox, 38, Orlon Road, Mechanicstown, for three counts of non-support of dependents, fifth-degree felonies, for allegedly failing to provide support for two minor children between July 2023 and June 2025.

LISBON — Recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, a Salem man was sentenced to 24 months of community control after entering a guilty plea to a lesser count of misdemeanor attempted strangulation, domestic violence and assault, amended from felony strangulation and domestic violence, both fourth-degree felonies. The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 14, 2024 when Phillip Devine, 34, Monroe Avenue, Salem became violent, grasping a woman on either side of the base of the neck, and forcefully squeezing and shaking her, leaving abrasions on her neck.

Also in common pleas court:

— Lorena Cope, 78, state Route 558, Leetonia, was sentenced to two years of community control for possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony.

— John Bell, 65, Pennsylvania Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to seven months in a state correctional facility for possession of cocaine, with a specification of forfeiture of money, a fifth-degree felony.

— Heidi Gallagher, 59, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, entered a guilty plea to misdemeanor attempted receiving stolen property and theft and will be sentenced Nov. 13.

— Michael Henderson 51, East Main Street, East Palestine, entered a guilty plea to one count of telecommunications harassment, a felony five. He will be sentenced on Oct. 23. Henderson posted on Facebook that he prayed every cop died from coronavirus. He also said that all judges get paid off and hoped they all died.

— Britania Brown, 44, Haiti Road, Salineville, entered a guilty plea for felony open burning or open dumping of solid waste and will be sentenced Oct. 23.

— Thomas Summers, 46, Haiti Road, Salineville, entered a guilty plea to two counts of non-support of dependents and one count of felony open burning or dumping of solid waste and will be sentenced Oct. 24.
