Police
ficers responded to the 500 block of Franklin Street at 12:08 p.m. Sunday for a report of theft. Officers were advised that more plants had been stolen from a detached greenhouse. A previous complaint was made on Saturday and the caller advised that the plants were stolen between then and the time of the current complaint. Photographs were taken.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:58 a.m. Sunday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised the neighbor’s dog had been getting out and coming onto their property and was currently on their property, and that the dog always seems hungry, and they believe the dog is being neglected. Officers did not observe any signs of the dog being neglected and were able to speak with the owner of the dog and return it. The owner of the dog was given a verbal warning for dog at large.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 11:49 p.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with the resident and were advised that one of the involved parties were there to get their belongings, but the caller didn’t want them on the property. The caller allowed them to grab their belongings, and it was loaded into a vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 11:52 p.m. Saturday for a reported property dispute. The caller advised that she had moved out of the residence and still had property there, and the other resident, with whom she had lived, was refusing to give her property back. When officers arrived, it was discovered the caller had been given the property and officers were not needed.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 10:11 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a woman was in their front yard. Officers advised them to call back if there was any further suspicious activity.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 9:42 p.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller wanted a report made for a juvenile trying to gain access to their garage. They were advised to call officers if there was any more suspicious activity.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East State Street at 9:08 p.m. Saturday for a report of an intoxicated man being belligerent with customers and employees at the restaurant. The man was advised to leave the premises, but refused, and officers escorted them out of the establishment. Management did not want to pursue charges, but did want the man to be trespassed. The man was served with a trespass notice and left the premises.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:20 p.m. Saturday for a reported fight. When officers arrived, nobody was around and all was quiet in the area, and the caller advised that an unknown man was in his backyard, and when he went to see who it was, the unknown man headbutted him and fled northbound down the street. Neighbors told a slightly different story and stated that the person ran southbound. The caller did not want to pursue the matter.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 8:07 p.m. Saturday for a report of a stolen bicycle. The caller advised that he let the person take the bicycle, but he never brought it back. Officers advised them that they would contact them to retrieve the bicycle, which was later recovered.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 5:18 p.m. Saturday for a report of a person to be trespassed. Officers spoke with the person in question by phone and advised him that he was trespassed from the business, and that were he to return he would be arrested for trespassing. He advised he would not return.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue at 5:04 p.m. Saturday for a reported 911 hang-up call. While the line was open people had been arguing in the background, and officers made contact at three different residences near the source of the call and found no problems at any of them.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Cleveland Street at 2:36 p.m. Saturday for a report of theft. Officers were advised three ATVs had been stolen and were advised that caller’s son saw one of them on Facebook Marketplace but did not save the ad. Officers advised a police report would be made.
— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and Roosevelt Avenue at 2:15 p.m. Saturday for a report of a vehicle driving recklessly. The caller advised the vehicle was tailgating him and swerving. Officers checked the area but were not able to locate the vehicle.
— Officers spoke with a caller at the 100 block of West 13th Street at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for a stolen bicycle report. The caller advised an unknown person stole his son’s bicycle out of the backyard “a couple of nights ago” and he wanted to make a report.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Franklin Avenue at 12:27 p.m. Saturday for a report of breaking and entering. The caller advised that a secured greenhouse had been broken into sometime between approximately 6 p.m. yesterday and before the time of the complaint. Someone had forced entry to the greenhouse and stole plants valued at approximately $500.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 10:57 a.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller located an unknown object on their property which was determined to be a used firework and disposed of.
–Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle observed traveling the wrong way down a one-way road at 10:31 p.m. Tuesday Officers made contact with the driver Christopher Fisher, 27, Akron, who had an active warrant through the Akron Police Department. Officers took the Fisher into custody and transported him to Deerfield to transfer custody to Akron officers. Fisher was issued a warning for the traffic violation.
–Officers responded with the fire department to the area of Continental Drive and Bentley Drive at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a kitten trapped in a drain. The fire department was able to free the animal, and it was taken by one of the callers.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a report of soliciting. Officers located the person in question and advised them to move along.
–Officers spoke to a person by phone at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday regarding the eviction process. Officers advised them that the issue was civil in nature.
–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 5:19 p.m. Tuesday for a possible protection order violation. After speaking with the caller, officers determined that the incident happened outside the city. The person was advised of the proper agency to contact.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile issue. The caller advised her son was having issues with another juvenile he rides the bus with following him home after they get off the bus. All information was collected, and the School Resource Officer was notified and advised he would speak with the juvenile in question.
–Officers responded to the 800 block of Aetna Street at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday for a report of lines down. When officers arrived, the lines were found to be cable. The cable company arrived on scene to fix the issue as officers were departing.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday for a reported parking complaint. Officers spoke with the owner and the vehicle was moved.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday for a criminal trespass report. The caller advised that they wanted a person trespassed from their apartment and filled out a trespass form. Officers contacted the person in question by phone and advised them that she was no longer permitted to be on the property.
–Officers responded to the area of North Union Avenue and Cleveland Street at 7:21 a.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
–Officers responded to the 1000 block of East State Street at 6:56 a.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity at a closed business. Officers found employees on scene doing inventory and advised them of the complaint.
–Officers responded with the Salem Fire Department and EMT to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 3:12 a.m. Thursday after receiving a call from a man stating he was having thoughts of harming themselves. The man was assessed by medical units and transported to an appropriate medical facility.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday for a warrant check. Officers were unable to make contact.
