Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy at 6:25 a.m. Thursday responded to an alarm at Southern Local Schools on state Route 39, Washington Township, where a key holder advised a staff member set off the alarm by accident.

Leetonia

— Police received a report of a reckless driver at 5:35 p.m. Sept. 19 on Columbia Avenue and located the car pulled over in the Dairy Queen parking lot unoccupied.

— Jodi Johnson, no address listed, was identified as a suspicious person reported at 6:22 p.m. Sept. 24 regarding a suspicious person in the Family Dollar parking lot. Concerned about her safety, as passersby had seen her in and out of the vehicle as well as slumped over in the driver’s seat at one point, they had reached out to police who made contact with Johnson, who appeared to be calm and sober. Due to her having an active warrant out of Pennsylvania, Johnson later was released due to out-of-state extradition and advised to take care of that warrant.

— An occupied disabled van was located near the intersection of Main Street and state Route 344 at 5:10 p.m. Sept. 24. The occupant requested police call AAA for a private tow.

— Officers provided a welfare check at 9:06 a.m. Sept. 24 in the first block of Chestnut Street for a female subject who may have taken too many sleeping pills. Upon contact, she did appear to be overly tired so agreed to be transported by EMS to the hospital.

— Police responded at 7:40 a.m. Friday to Wick Park, where a village water employee had found a male subject had a pitched a tent in the pavilion and appeared to have been there all night. The man, who possessed a Japanese passport, was advised by an officer that he could not pitch a tent in the park overnight and would have to leave. He was permitted to cook himself breakfast before exiting.

Salem

— Officers responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue and Franklin Avenue at 1:30 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. Officers observed a man outside of his vehicle in a parking lot with an odor of alcohol, and the man admitted to being at the Foundry. His grandma was contacted, and she arrived to take him home.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible scam. Officers advised him that it was a scam.

— Officers on patrol in the area of East School Street and East Fifth Street at 11:32 p.m. Thursday observed a vehicle driven by a man who was known to be suspended. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Michael Delp, 47, Salem, who also had an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, confirming the warrant, and took him into custody, and issued a citation for driving under suspension.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Whinnery Road at 8:46 p.m. Thursday for a report of an unruly juvenile. Officers resolved the issue.

— Officers responded to the area of North Madison Avenue and East State Street at 8 p.m. Thursday for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. Officers located the vehicle in question and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver, and everything checked okay.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Southeast Boulevard at 2:25 p.m. Thursday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that he was involved in a verbal dispute with a known man who departed prior to officers’ arrival. Both parties were advised to cease all further contact.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Southeast Boulevard at 1:17 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil issue. Officers spoke with all parties involved and determined the matter to be a landlord tenant dispute over multiple issue. Officers advised the matter was civil in nature.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:58 p.m. Thursday regarding an issue with a family member. Officers provided them with options for handling the situation.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 9:10 a.m. Thursday for a report of a deceased animal which had reportedly been shot. When officers arrived a man at a neighboring residence standing on the sidewalk with his arms in the air stated officers were there for him and he had a gun. The man, who was voluntarily intoxicated was detained and the loaded handgun was removed from his waistband. The man continued to argue with officers and refused commands to calm down. Officers place the man, Jacob Brown in custody and transported him directly to the Columbiana County Jail charged with disorderly conduct and weapons while intoxicated.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 8:43 a.m. Thursday for a report of a dead cat that appeared to have been shot. Officers located the cat on the south side of a residence with what appeared to be a gun shot, and the person responsible for the cat responded and removed it. There were no witnesses to the cat being shot.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:04 a.m. Thursday for a reported medical emergency. Officers stood by until the person in question was transported to the emergency room by ambulance.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive at 3:36 a.m. Saturday for a person to be removed. The caller advised that someone was beating on her door that was believed to be her ex-boyfriend. The person left prior to officers’ arrival.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 1:11 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report that a person known to have an active warrant was seen walking around. Officers attempted contact at their residence but were unable to locate them.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:52 p.m. Friday to assist the fire department and EMT with a medical call. Officers stood by until the man was transported to the proper medical facility.
