Sheriff’s Office

— At 1:50 p.m. Saturday, deputies investigated a report of a protection order violation from a man on Depot Road who reported that another man was walking around the perimeter of his property and he has a protection order against him. It was determined that both parties have protection orders against each other.

Salem

–Officers were flagged down by a resident in the 700 block of North Howard Avenue at 5:01 p.m. Saturday who advised that a baby rabbit had fallen into a storm basin. The fire department responded to see if they could assist in lifting the storm grate above the basin, but the rabbit had disappeared into a drainpipe on the side of the basin prior to their arrival.

–Officers responded to the 300 block of West Eight Street at 4:45 p.m. Saturday to check the alley for a railroad tie that had been struck by a car. Officers observed the tire and found it was easily passable by traffic. There was also a hornets nest near the tie, and officers advised the resident that they would calm down at night and a wasp or hornet spray could be used to neutralize the insects at that time.

–Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 3:39 p.m. Saturday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. During the incident, officers recovered suspected narcotics which will be sent for testing with charges pending lab results.

–Officers responded to the 1400 block of East State Street at 1:04 p.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller had questions about property lines and having issues with the neighbor next door about a tree that is hanging over the property line. Officers advised the caller to contact the zoning officer on Monday.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 10:48 a.m. Saturday for a reported theft. The caller advised that sometime overnight an unknown person stole an electric scooter and a bicycle from their garage. The caller advised that the neighbor has cameras facing their garage and is going to speak with them when they get home. The matter is under investigation.

–Officers on patrol in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:46 a.m. Saturday were flagged down by a man who advised that while walking his dog and unknown driver turn off South Lincoln Avenue onto Columbia Street, nearly hitting him. The caller advised that the person was driving a newer Cadillac and went westbound, and he tried to follow the vehicle on foot but lost it.

–Officers responded to the 1400 block of Cleveland Street at 8:48 a.m. Saturday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that a person had damaged an ornamental tree sapling and killed another that had been planted on the west side of the property and had seemingly poured a dark liquid around the base of the tree that was dead. The flowering of the other had been cut off. Officers photographed the saplings and advised the resident an extra watch would be placed on the residence. Officers also discussed additional measures that could be implemented, such as motion activated lights and security cameras.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of West Perry Street at 7:06 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a woman. Officers spoke with the woman who advised she was fine and didn’t need any medical attention.

–Officers responded to the 100 block of Sharp Avenue at 3:57 a.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that two men was walking past his house yelling obscenities. Officers spoke with the parties involved and were advised the caller had started yelling at them first. All parties were advised to leave each other alone and stay indoors for the night.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 11:31 p.m. Friday for a reported dispute. A dispute occurred between a husband and wife who are going through the divorce process. At one point it was reported the husband threatened another man, but no charges were pursued. The husband requested an ambulance due to having a possible mental health crisis. EMT transported the man to the proper facility for further evaluation.

–Officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 11:01 p.m. Friday for a report of an intoxicated person. Officers found the man to be having a medical emergency and the fire department and EMT responded and transported them to the proper medical facility.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 8:03 p.m. Friday for a report of a missing child. Officers spoke with the mother who advised that her daughter was supposed to meet her in the library parking lot across the street. After twenty minutes had passed, she called in that her daughter was missing and had not come to the car. Officers spoke with the athletic director of the high school to see if he could call her name on the loudspeaker. The juvenile went to the ticket gate where her mother was waiting.

–Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 7:53 p.m. Friday regarding an assault. The caller advised that when he pulled into a parking lot on his motorcycle a person came over and pushed him off of it then continued to yell in his face wanting to fight. The man was not injured and did not want to pursue the matter legally but wanted a report on file.

–Officers responded to the 200 block of Cunningham Road at 6:49 p.m. Friday for a report of stalking. While a woman was at her place of business a man known to her was reported to be bothering her at work. Management at the business told him to leave and he did so.

— Officers responded to the residence in the 600 block of Main Street in Perry Township to serve a trespass notice. He was advised that if he returned, he would be arrested.

–Officers responded to the area of South Ellsworth Avenue at 6:13 p.m. Friday for a wellness check on a woman. Officers spoke with the woman who advised everything was fine.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 5:45 p.m. Friday for a reported assault. The caller advised an altercation occurred over driving a car too fast through an alley way. Due to conflicting stories, officers obtained statements from all parties and the matter is under investigation.

–Officers responded to the area of West Eight Street at 4:20 p.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious woman acting erratically. Officers checked throughout the area including alleys, surrounding streets, and businesses, but did not observe anyone fitting the description provided.

–Officers responded to the 800 block of Morris Avenue at 3:43 p.m. Friday to assist with a juvenile that needed to be transported from his residence to a group home.

Goshen

— Officers responded to the 17000 block of Leffingwell Road at 11:17 p.m. Sept. 5 to assist the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office with a suspicious person report. Officers were advised that the sheriff’s office had received a report of voices being heard in an abandoned residence. Officers found the residence to be overrun with vegetation but managed to gain entry via an open back door and found the interior to be overrun with clutter and debris, but did not locate anyone on or in the property.
