Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday to South Lane Drive, Hanover Township, for a domestic dispute between a woman and her daughter over a cell phone.

— An alarm was reported at 3:20 a.m. Saturday at the Dollar General in Salineville. A deputy checked the building and found it to be secure from the ground level.

— A Hanover Township resident reported at 8:32 p.m. Tuesday that a Railroad Street man was trespassing on the right of way of Norfolk Southern property, but left.

— A deputy was dispatched at 7:38 p.m. Wednesday to the parking lot of Travelers Inn, state Route 45, Center Township, for small children in the lot without supervision. A deputy checked the parking lot, with no contact with anyone.

Liverpool Township

— The plates and registration of the vehicle being driven by Paula Parks, age and address not provided, were confiscated on behalf of the state during a traffic stop on Campground Road on Aug. 15. Officers pulled the vehicle over after running the plates which came back showing Parks as being under suspension. The vehicle was towed by First Class Towing. Parks was issued a citation and given a mandatory court date for driving under suspension.

— Hayden Payton, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for speeds of 40 mph in a 25-mph zone on Boring Lane following a traffic stop on Aug. 15.

Wellsville

— Officers responded to a domestic situation in Independence Square on Aug. 16 at 12:45 p.m. after receiving a call transferred to them from the county dispatch. The male reported his fiancee attacked him after he said something about their daughter that made her mad. The female said the male hit her. The parties were advised to separate and told their case would be sent to the prosecutor for review.

— Mark Kireta, age and address not provided, was arrested for theft after officers responded to a call in the 1500 block of Commerce on Aug. 18 for a report of tomatoes and peppers being stolen from the resident’s garden. A witness said he saw Kireta at the Dairy Dreem parking lot trying to sell the stolen vegetables.

St. Clair Township

— An officer responded to Enterprise Car Rental on Aug. 15 after an employee called to report finding a gun in a vehicle recently returned. The officer obtained the rental information and called the owner of the gun who came to the police station to pick it up. The officer ran the serial number and the information on the gun owner, and both came back clear.

— A male reported to police on Aug. 19 that an ex-girlfriend who lives in California has made several social media accounts using the name of his deceased grandfather and is sending harassing texts and chats.

— A North Star medic flagged down an officer on state Route 267 on Aug. 19 who said she came upon a vehicle by Walker Road that was out of gas. The officer went to the location and spoke to a female sitting near the vehicle which was towed by Calcutta Towing.

— Joseph Salvin Jr. was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia and released with a court summons after officers responded to a call reporting him passed out at the wheel of his car at a pump at the BP Station on state Route 170 on Aug. 20.

— Officers responded to the 16000 block of Harvard Avenue for a report of criminal mischief after receiving a call on Aug. 21 reporting an unknown person entering the caller’s property and moving lawn furniture and leaving a bag of urine and what appeared to dog poop on the stoop of the back door.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 4:01 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a dog left inside a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle which had the windows down with the dog inside. While checking the vehicle the owner came out of a local business and officers advised them of the complaint. They advised they wouldn’t do it again.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday for a report of fraud. The caller advised they received a phone call from someone they thought to be their cell-phone provider and paid for a new cell phone which they never received. The caller then contacted her actual provider and was advised she did not order a new phone through them. Officers advised the caller to contact their credit card companies and bank to advise them of the police report.

— Officers on patrol in the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday checked on a motionless person sitting outside. The individual was confirmed to be OK.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Street at 1:54 p.m. Tuesday to for a trespassing report. The caller advised that they have been having issues with a known man and want him trespassed from his property. Officers spoke to the other half who advised that he wanted the caller trespassed from his property as well. Trespass notices were filled out for both, and they were both advised.

— Officers responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 1:24 p.m. Tuesday for a report of accidental damage to a vehicle. Officers were advised carts from the local grocery store had struck the vehicle causing damage to the left middle panel. Photographs were obtained and a report was made.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East State Street at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday for a report of an irate man. Officers spoke with the man, advising him of the complaint, and he denied being irate and advised he didn’t need anything.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday regarding an incident that occurred the night prior. The caller advised that they would like to trespass an individual from her business. Officers were able to locate the individual and serve them with a trespass notice.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Aetna Street at 8:31 a.m. Tuesday for a reported parking complaint. Officers observed a semi-truck hauling construction equipment parked with cones around it and spoke with the driver who advised they were paving a roadway, and he parked the truck on the side street. Officers advised the driver to close the roadway down from South Lincoln Avenue to Homewood Avenue to avoid any accidents due to the view obstruction.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of West Wilson Street at 4:04 a.m. Thursday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with all parties involved and found there was no violence, just household members yelling at each other. Officers settled the situation for the night and discovered one of the involved parties, Justin Ingledue, 27, Alliance, had an active warrant out of Alliance. Ingledue was taken into custody and transported to a meeting point with Alliance officers who took over custody of them.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:51 p.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity involving a person apparently being outside a resident’s back door. Officers checked the area but found nothing out of the usual.

— Officers on patrol in the 2800 block of East State Street at 11:26 p.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle traveling 48 mph in a 25-mph zone and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle continued eastbound and pulled into the parking lot of Walmart, and the driver, Rachael Butler, continued to ignore verbal commands, put the car in drive and left the parking lot southbound on Cunningham Road. Officers pursued the vehicle back into the city and continued back out of the city on West State Street. The Portage County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle with a flat tire, and Butler was placed into custody and released to a Salem officer, brought back to the police department for processing and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday for a possible OVI entering the city. Officers checked the area but did not locate them.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday for a civil matter. Officers stood by while the person in question got their property.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Highland Avenue at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday for a reported motor vehicle accident. Officers spoke with both parties and were advised they wanted to handle the accident civilly.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department regarding an upcoming court case at 5:34 p.m. Wednesday. Officers advised the caller of their options for dealing with the situation.

— Samantha Johnson, 19, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle stopped in a private drive with part of the vehicle exposed in the roadway on East Pershing Street causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven by Joanne Bogdan, 70, Salem, at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
