Columbiana County Common Pleas
A Madison Township man was sentenced to four years in prison after an East Liverpool woman awoke to find him in her room holding a flashlight.
The sentenced was imposed this week by Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge C. Ashley Pike against Howard Lightner, 36, Yeager Drive, Wellsville, after he pleaded guilty to burglarizing the home of Cori Blosser, St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, on Dec. 10, 2012.
Blosser reported waking up and finding a man with a flashlight standing in her room after he had broken in through a window. The intruder fled, but blood found from the broken window matched Lightner’s. He received mandatory credit for three days spent in the county jail.
Also receiving a four-year prison sentence from Judge Pike this week was Bradley J. Deatley, 30, of Lisbon, who previously pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary. Deatley broke into the home of Robert Metts, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, on Aug. 14, 2015. When discovered, Deatley ran past Metts, striking him in the head and knocking to the floor.
He received mandatory credit for 309 days already spent in the county jail.
Donald Edge Jr., 39, Clark Avenue, Wellsville, is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 28 after pleading guilty to selling the drug oxycondone on April 14, 2015, in the vicinity of a school.

Columbiana County Common Pleas
A Beloit man was sentenced to prison after previously pleading guilty to multiple charges during action this week in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.
Kyle D. Adams, 20, of Georgetown-Damascus Road, was sentenced by Judge C. Ashley Pike for breaking entering, four counts of theft and two counts of possessing a dangerous ordnance. He received credit for 149 days already spent in the county jail.
Adams broke into the garage and workshop of John and Lindsey Rose, Hanselman Road, Homeworth, on Nov. 20, 2015, and stole two shotguns, a rifle and crossbow from the premise. On Jan. 2, 2016, Adams was found with two sawed-off shotguns – the dangerous ordnance possession charges – which were apparently the shotguns stolen from the Rose property but then converted into sawed-off shotguns.
In other court news, Amanda E. Wright, 31, Riley Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to four years probation after pleading guilty to drug possession and tampering with evidence. She received credit for nine days spent in the county jail.
Wright was found with heroin following a traffic stop by East Liverpool police on May 14, 2014. The tampering with evidence charge involved her trying to destroy or alter her phone.
Natalie M. Flannigan, 34, Staunton Avenue, East Liverpool, is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 21 after pleading guilty to growing marijuana.
Preston L. Wright, 24, Forrest Street, Lisbon, is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 21 after pleading guilty as charged to drug possession. Cocaine and a crack pipe containing cocaine residue were found in his home on June 25, 2015.
A secret indictment issued by the county grand jury was served on Jessica M. Greathouse, 33, state Route 9, Hanoverton, charging her with four counts of drug possession. Greathouse was found in possession of heroin, cocaine, THC and MDMA on April 27.

n Two people pleaded guilty to unrelated burglary charges last week in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.
Benjamin R. Phillips, 41, East State Street, Salem, pleaded guilty to burglary, which was reduced from a second-degree felony to a fourth-degree felony as part of a plea deal reached with the county prosecutor’s office. Phillips broke into the home of Catherine Roth, East Third Street, Salem, on Dec. 16, 2015. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 28.
William D. Faulkner, 30, Gromley Road, Salem, pleaded guilty as charged to burglarizing the home of Rachael and Nathan Davis, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, on Oct. 21, 2015. He is to be sentenced on Nov. 21.
In other court news, a secret indictment issued by the county grand jury was served on Romen K. Bashline, 26, East North Avenue, East Palestine, charged with two counts of drug trafficking. He is accused of selling substituted cathinone in the county on Aug. 14 and 26, 2014.

Clint L. Geho, 34, North Beaver Street, Lisbon, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to burglary and receiving stolen property.
On Jan. 17, Geho trespassed in the home of Taylor Jones, Firestone Avenue, Columbiana, entering through the locked back door while she was asleep, assaulted and restrained Jones by dragging her from her bed by her feet and preventing her from leaving her basement. Then he stole her work ID and debit card. The cards were later found in Geho’s possession. Sentencing is set for Nov.21. He faces up to two and a half years in prison and a $7,500 fine.

Columbiana County Common Pleas
Jesse K. Rapp, 29, Hawkins Lane, Columbiana, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to using weapons while intoxicated, aggravated menacing, and inducing panic. He also entered an Alford plea to a charge discharging a firearm at or near a prohibited premises. Rapp had a .45 caliber Springfield XD handgun on April 11, when he caused Patrolman Richard Whitfield of Columbiana police to believe he was going to cause him serious physical harm, fired the weapon over a public road and caused other people to evacuate a public place. Sentencing is Nov. 18
Jessica A. Hill, 33, Lippincott Road, East Rochester, pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hill tried to hide marijuana from investigators on Jan. 21 and had a set of scales. She faces up to three years and 30 days incarceration, a $10,250 fine and a five year license suspension at sentencing on Nov. 18.
Brian H. Jenkins, 37, Louisville, pleaded guilty to non-support of dependents. He faces up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing is Dec.1.
Brian L. Jeffers, 29, North Pleasant Drive, East Palestine, stipulated to violating his probation for previous charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drugs. His probation is to continue, but he is ordered to spend up to 180 days at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center in Wintersville. Jeffers had in excess of 200 grams but less than 1,000 grams of marijuana and anabolic steroids in excess of the bulk amount, but less than five times the bulk amount in his possession on Dec. 27, 2014.
Chad R. Anderson, 25, Spillway Road, Lisbon, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to two counts of possession of drugs and one count each of OVI, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, improper handling of a firearm, trafficking in marijuana. On Feb. 6, he had hydrocodone, amphetamine, a loaded Glock handgun in the vehicle he was driving while under the influence of a controlled substance. He also sold marijuana early in 2016. He faces up to six and a half years in prison if all the counts were to run consecutively, $16,150 in fines and years of license suspensions. Sentencing is set for Dec. 2
Shawn L. Jones, also known as Buck, 27, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs with a forfeiture specification for having both heroin and $2,221. He faces up to a year in prison, a five-year license suspension and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing is set for Nov. 28.
Samuel F. Masters Jr., 40, Main Street, Wellsville, pleaded guilty to failure to notify the sheriff of a change of address for moving sometime during the month of March from one Wellsville address on Peake Street to the Main Street home. He faces up the three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Dec. 2.
Jacob W. Snyder, 27, South Lane, Hanoverton, pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs for selling meth on July 29, 2015. He faces up to 18 months in prison, a five-year license suspension and a $5,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Nov. 28.
Tani H. Lily, 44, Signal Road, Salineville, stipulated to violating the terms of his intervention in lieu of conviction for a possession of drugs case. He was sentenced to the county jail for 45 days and placed on community control. Lily had a plastic container, blue in color containing approximately .27 grams of cocaine on Feb. 12, 2014.
Sheena R. Rhodes, 30, Columbiana County Jail, stipulated to violating the terms of her probation from a 2012 possession of heroin case. Her probation was dishonorably terminated and she was sentenced to seven months in Marysville Reformatory for Women.
Emily J. Garman, 22, East Seventh Street, Salem, stipulated to violating her community control and was sentenced to an indefinite term at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center. Garman’s earlier conviction was for complicity to trafficking in drugs for helping Taylor B. Willard commit the crime in July 2014.

Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones said Tisdale sold .44 grams of cocaine to a confidential informant for $80 at the Vista Motel near the Westgate Middle School in East Liverpool. Sentencing is Nov. 14.

Columbiana County Common Pleas
An East Palestine man was sentenced to prison on drug trafficking charges this week in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.
Brian F. Buckley, 23, of Wood Street, was sentenced to one year in prison by Judge Scott Washam after previously pleading guilty to four counts of drug trafficking. He admitted to selling heroin and cocaine out of his home in December 2014 and again the next month.
In other court news, Nicholas S. Franklin 19, John Street, East Liverpool, is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 18 after pleading guilty to robbery charges. Franklin had shoplifted some items from he Calcutta Walmart (sunglasses, food items and cough syrup) in August 2015 and shoved the store manager and fled when confronted.
Kelly Townsend, 46, Idaho Street, Wellsville, was sentenced to four years’ probation after previously pleading guilty to allowing her residence to be used for drug offenses in December 2014 and tampering with evidence in April 2015. The latter offense involved her removing firearms from the home following her husband’s suicide. As part of her sentenced Townsend was ordered to serve up to six months at the prison alternative facility in Lisbon.

Columbiana County Common Pleas
Michelle L. Walker, 46, Parkview Drive, Wellsville, pleaded guilty to misuse of credit cards and theft. Sentencing is set for Nov. 17. She faces up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Walker used the credit card of an elerly person and deprived Shirley Hampson of Social Security benefits in November 2015.
Andrea E. Walters, 19, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to vandalism for using a loaned Malibu belonging to Columbiana Buick Olds Cadillac-Chevy past the time she had permission to have it and while adding 4,182 miles and causing $3,931 in damage to the vehicle. She faces up to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing is set for Nov. 17.
George W. Finney Jr., pleaded guilty to attempted trafficking in marijuana, a lesser included offense to the trafficking in drugs charge he was indicted for in 2001. Finney is facing up to 180 days in jail, a $1,000 fine and a five-year license suspension. Sentencing is set for Dec. 19. The initial charge was for being with two others and having about 16,553 grams of marijuana in separate packaging seized from a hotel room at the East Liverpool Motor Lodge on May 16, 2001.

Columbiana County Common Pleas
In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, Jason W. Yates, 36, New England Square, New Waterford, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, had his license suspended for three years and fined $5,000 for illegal assembly or possession of chemical for the manufacture of drugs, attempted illegal manufacture of drugs and a forfeiture specification. Yates had an active meth lab inside his 2003 Dodge Durango during a traffic stop in East Palestine on June 20, 2014. He also had additional chemicals and other items to make meth.
Jeffrey Knauf, 49, Rochester Road, Kensington, pleaded guilty to forgery. Sentencing was set for Nov. 14. He faces up to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine, although Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones said she plans to ask for community control for Knauf, who pleaded guilty to the prosecutor’s information in the case and cooperated. Knauf used a 0 percent loan check from the credit card account of Amy S. Knauf, his ex-wife, which he used by forging her signature to obtain $3,400 with the plans of paying back the loan before he missed a payment.
Donna L. Mineard, 48, Steubenville Pike, Lisbon, was placed on four years of community control after she previously pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and endangering children. Mineard had .6 grams of methamphetamine and 11 tablets of Clonazepam in her purse when stopped by East Palestine police with her 16-year-old son in her vehicle on Oct. 11, 2014.
Deandre M. Dozier, 26, Fenton Street, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs and a forfeiture specification in June. Dozier was placed on four years community control this week. Dozier had heroin and cocaine, along with $70 for drug-related offenses on Jan. 15, 2015.
Jarrell L. Sloan, 41, 14th Street, Wellsville, pleaded guilty to non-support of dependents. Sentencing is set for Nov. 17. He faces up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine.
Kasey L. Helisek, 23, last known address Wallace Road, East Palestine, pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to notify the sheriff of a change of address. Sentencing is set for Nov. 18. He faces up to six years in prison and a $20,000 fine if all counts run consecutively. Helisek was found to have moved from his registered address when checked in October 2015 and in March 2016. He is required to register following a conviction for gross sexual imposition.
Columbiana County Common Pleas
Barry D. Harris, 45, 14th Street, Wellsville, was sentenced in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to seven months in prison for permitting drug abuse. A possession of drugs charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. In July, Harris had offered an Alford Plea to the permitting drug abuse charge, for less than the bulk amount of Alprazolam on Sept. 23, 2014. The Alford Plea means while Harris does not admit to the charge he believes there is enough evidence against him to convict him.

Columbiana County Common Pleas
In county Common Pleas Court, Robert J. Crespo, 29, Roberts Road, Leetonia, pleaded guilty to robbery and kidnapping. He faces up to 16 years in prison and a $30,000 fine if both counts were to run consecutively. Sentencing is set for Nov 18. Crespo was one of the people charged in connection to a December 2015 incident where two men were lured to a North Beaver Street apartment in Lisbon, forced to remove their clothes, robbed and sent out into the street.
Wilbur L. Miller, 42, Bell Road, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for .123 grams of heroin inside his pants pocket. He faces up to 12 months in prison, a five year license suspension and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing is set for Nov. 17
Melinda S. Gregory, 30, Boyd Street, East Liverpool, stipulated to violating her community control, which she received after pleading guilty to permitting drug abuse and a forfeiture specification from a 2013 case. Her community control is dishonorably terminated. The initial charge was for 1.7 grams of cocaine and $873 found inside her brassiere on April 14, 2013.
Michael J. Gouchenour, 34, Cleveland Street, Salem, pleaded guilty to illegal manufacture of drugs, illegal possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and possession of drugs. The sentencing hearing is set for Nov. 4, when Gouchenour could face up to 30 years in prison, $55,000 in fines and a five-year license suspension if all maximum sentences were run consecutively. When a search warrant was served on July 1, 2015, Gouchenour was at a home where agents found seven one-pot methamphetamines labs in a cooler and various items for making meth in a bedrooms. A clear container of liquid found in the bedroom weighed about 2,073 grams and contained methamphetamines. There were also two children ages 6 and 8 living in neighboring homes.
The request for a reduction of bond for Jaime Emery, 35, formerly of Commerce Street, Wellsville, was denied. Emery is awaiting sentencing after she pleaded last week to three counts of endangering children for starving her sons. Judge Scott Washam noted Emery has no employment or financial ties to the community and recently pleaded guilty to three offenses involving serious physical harm to three children.
